داندا آسانا (نشستن صحیح)

داندا (danda) به معنای تکیه گاه است و منظور از دانداسانا وضعیتی است که این وضعیت پایه و اساس اجرای سایر آسانا های یوگا است. دانداسانا وضعیت شروع و آغازین برای برخی از حرکات نشسته یوگا می باشد. همانگونه که تاداسانا وضعیت اولیه برای حرکات ایستاده یوگاست.
🔹نحوه اجرای وضعیت :
1/ بر روی زمین با پاهای صاف و کشیده بنشینید.
2/ با دستها استخوان دنبالچه را بیرون بکشید تا وزن بدن کاملا بر روی دو استخوان نشیمنگاه تقسیم شود.
3/ توجه داشته باشید که ستون فقرات صاف و کشیده باشد و بدن نباید به جلو و یا عقب متمایل شود. اگر تنه به سمت عقب متمایل شده است برای رفع این مشکل می توانید بر روی یک کوسن کوچک و یا پتو بنشینید تا لگن خاصره کمی بلاتر قرار بگیرد.
4/ با انقباض عضلات روی ران ( چهارسر ) کاسه های زانو را به بالا بکشید و پشت زانو و عضلات پشت ران را به زمین فشار دهید تا فاصله پشت زانو تا زمین به حاقل ممکن برسد.
5/ پاها را به صورت اکتیو نگهدارید و انگشتان پاها را به سمت خود بکشید. بدین ترتیب کف پاها عمود بر زمین قرار می گیرند.
6/ کف دست ها را صاف و کشیده در کنار باسن بگذارید، بطوری که انگشتان به سمت جلو اشاره کنند. با یک چرخش سرشانه از جلو به عقب شانه ها را به عقب بگشید و قفسه سینه را باز و فراخ نگهدارید. شانه ها بایداز گوش ها دور باشند.
7/ سر در راستای ستون فقرات بوده و به روبرو با نگاه متمرکز نگاه کنید. 🔸فواید :
♥ تقویت عضلات پشت
♥ انبساط قفسه سینه و سرشانه ها
♥ اصلاح وضعیت بدن
♥ شناخت و رفع معایب در زانوها و مچ ها
♥ توزیع متقارن وزن در دو طرف لگن
♥ تقویت دیواره شکم و اندام های داخلی
♥ یادگیری باز کردن فضای بین انگشتان پاها

Come to a seat with your legs extended long in front of you. If you find yourself leaning back, or just needing more space in the back of your legs or down your spine, slide a prop (blanket or block) underneath your sitting bones, and keep a soft bend in your knees.

Find a long spine (the most important part!), root down through the earth or your prop, and plant your hands on either side of your hips. Activate through your legs, pull your toes toward your face, draw up through your core, and as you inhale, make your spine as long and tall as possible.

Keep the deep engagement through your core and legs, and take 5 long deep breaths. Grow taller with every inhale and more rooted in every exhale.

Release and reach your arms overhead, and then surrender into a lovely #Paschimottanasana (seated forward fold).

#dandasana is one of the first postures in which practitioners are able to find sthira and sukha (steadiness and ease). That should be the state of mind and body in every asana. So remember Dandasana every time you try to get into a difficult posture and try to emulate it. .

Here we go with Day 2 of #HeartsAboveMinds!! I went for a forearm wheel on tippy toes!! 😁 I struggled with this pose a bit a couple of weeks ago, but it's all good now 😊 I love me some backbends, so of course I also love this pose!! 😍
I'm still busy writing my thesis but, to be honest, I struggle with feeling productive when I'm sitting at home writing.. I know I'm doing things, but I always feel it's not enough and that I should be doing more.. It's something I need to work on, and I'm on it 😊

I've been doing a lot of planking lately so I thought I'd try a new angle, make it a three limbed staff pose, and throw in some prayer hands. My lifted leg back there is representational of the new moon... They are similar in the sense that they are barely visible. 😅 Oh well. .

A forward bend session which accommodates various levels of flexibility. It is aimed at students with 3-9 months experience and beyond in Iyengar yoga.

We start out in Supta Baddha Konasana, reclining over a bolster with a belt around the legs and back of the buttocks. Virasana forwards over a bolster and blanket for support if needed followed by Uttanasana and Adho Mukha Svanasana (Dogpose).

We move to Half Uttanasana with the hands to the wall, followed by Adho Mukha Vrksasana (full arm balance) preparation with the feet to the wall. Then come some standing poses with one foot to wall: Trikonasana, Parsvottanasana and Prasarita Padottanasana.

Pixie leads you through a clear and deep explanation of how to set up for head balance combined with a few minutes holding in head balance preparation.

🕺🏻⚗️🗝Day 1️⃣8️⃣ of #ShoulderConnections with @cyogalife ↪️ #WheelPose at wall 🗝⚗️🕺🏻With today’s main pose and this modification, we’re going to really open the shoulders from a position of strength. In both poses, the legs will be straight so that the primary difference will be the height of the legs. Using the wall, we’ll be able to customize to fit where we can comfortably and actively hit our end range for shoulder extension. You could also start with the legs on the wall and gradually walk them to the floor to end up in today’s main pose. +
To begin, measure your distance to the wall by sitting in #dandasana with your feet pressed flat against the wall. Where your hips are is where your hands will go to start so mark this spot. Stand up, face the wall, plant the hands at the mark, and kick up overhead so that both feet land on the wall (If this is scary, you can get used to the kick up by starting closer to the wall). Once the feet are on the wall, begin to arch the upper back while pressing the hands firmly into the ground. Try to make your collarbone the part of the body farthest forward. Once the legs get to a point where they are in a horizontal line with the hips, you can use the feet to press into the wall to deepen the stretch in the shoulders. In both poses, the legs will be straight so that the primary difference will be the height of the legs. Using the wall, we’ll be able to customize to fit where we can comfortably and actively hit our end range for shoulder extension. You could also start with the legs on the wall and gradually walk them to the floor to end up in today’s main pose. + To begin, measure your distance to the wall by sitting in #dandasana with your feet pressed flat against the wall. Where your hips are is where your hands will go to start so mark this spot. Stand up, face the wall, plant the hands at the mark, and kick up overhead so that both feet land on the wall (If this is scary, you can get used to the kick up by starting closer to the wall). Pose of the Week: Staff Pose (Dandasana)
Although sitting straight up with legs extended straight out in front of your body appears to be an easy pose, it can be tough.  Staff pose done with proper alignment and muscle activation can improve posture, strengthen the core and stretch the chest and shoulders.

Done some really difficult core workout using #dandasana #straddle and #chaturanga without the butt touching the ground, gotta keep doin’ this for body recognition, i haven’t achieved the butt lifted up high on toes sliding to straddle and more on core engagement as i lift my body up from chaturanga. Yes, i’m struggling 😄.

Viparita Dandasana is a combination of a back bend and a shoulder stand, and I’m doing it the Iyengar way—using a chair and bench to support and help me go deeper into the pose.

Extend both legs, switch on your calves, thighs, feel your hips connect into the mat, activate your torso and lift your upper body so you are tall. You may want to bring your hands beside you or in front on your legs and begin to flex and extend your feet. This improves posture and builds muscles in your lower back, abs and pelvis muscle....And you thought you were just relaxing in front of the telly! You can do both and build your muscles. 👌😊

It may look like not much is going on in this Staff Pose, but this first seated posture of the Ashtanga sequence can be challenging. Engage your bandhas - lift your pelvic floor, pull your abs up and in, and tuck your chin. Sit tall with active legs in stillness and breathe. For me personally, it can bring up memories of my mother yanking my shoulders back to correct my posture as I tried to sink out of existence. If my gaze isn't at my nose with focus on my breath, I can fall back into my teenage years of being made fun of for my thighs (the joke was I had my grandmother's thighs, not the skinny thighs I longed for). But with awareness of the spine and the legs lengthening, perpendicular and parallel, may we discover the benefits of this strengthening and aligning pose.

It was a sun salutation morning 🌄

Strength has always come easier to my body than flexibility, so after a week of bending practice this is a bit of a treat.
.
I don't add surya namaskar to my practice every day but once a week I like to make time for high repetition - I don't count them because that distracts me, so I go by time. Today was 25mins (there's a clip in my stories). .
I usually do the hatha series and then finish with ten ashtanga series 1 -  jumping isn't my favourite but it's a brilliant series for strength and mobility ❤️

It's always, always good to check in on the 'basics'. These are the foundation of the rest of our practice. .
It's easy to shrug of these poses as beginner, too simple for our fancy, flowy advanced practice. But, fancy or not, these postures are literally therapy for the body.

Chaturanga, a version of dandasana, balances the nervous system, develops mental concentration and balance as well as strengthening legs, arms, shoulders and spine 🙌 .

Sometimes you don't know how much you have progressed until you take the time to pause & assess. I have done baby grasshopper many times in class but never next to a mirror. In my head I thought I am no where close to getting it right. But hey, sometimes things are not as bad as you think, you just have to try and see how it goes . .
