Is the only way to lose weight is to count calories or track macros? Not really👇🏻
I hear this a lot:
“I went on Keto, Paleo, Weight Watchers, etc and lost weight without tracking my food"
“As soon as I cut back carbs I started losing weight. No counting.”
These strategies definitely work, but there's a reason that they do.
But just because they didn’t track any calories does not mean calories don’t count. The only way you will lose weight with a diet is if there is a caloric deficit. There can be other complications, but that's for another discussion.
With Keto, you’re cutting carbs.
With Paleo, you’re cutting calorically dense processed food.
With Weight Watchers you’re following a point system.
The bottom line is that every diet that works has strategies and rules that help you cut back on calories… without even really realizing it.
What's to learn here?
You can focus less on the magical diet your co-worker lost 20lbs on, and focus MORE on creating something that works for YOU and YOUR lifestyle.
If you like Keto, do it!
If you like Weight Watchers, do it!
If you like being a vegetarian, then fuck yeah!
Ultimately this has to be something you enjoy. If you love carbs and decide on Keto, it's only a matter of time until you engorge yourself on a feast of carbs and drown in a wave of guilt for not sticking to your plan.
Personally, I have had incredible results with tracking calories and food.
It teaches you invaluable skills that you use for life and fundamental truths about the food that you’re eating. It can be REALLY eye-opening.
Once you know the calories of the food you eat, and what your portion sizes look like, you become a wizard at adjusting your portions and making your diet more flexible, so you can actually enjoy yourself and not live a life of restriction.
Imagine being able to lose weight/maintain your physique AND still be able to go out and have fun. That would be pretty neat, right?
Whatever diet you choose, at the end of the day it comes down to being consistent with a caloric deficit that will burn away the pounds 🔥 - 2 hours ago
