I've been an athlete all my life. I know what kind of dedication and commitment it takes to swim at the district level, play division 2 soccer at a collegiate level, run marathons. I know it takes grit, passion, discipline. So why was it so hard for me to commit to eating healthy and losing weight?
I struggled. Something that seemed so easy was so hard. I'd eat great during the week and as soon as the weekend hit, I'd justify eating out almost every meal and drinking alcohol or pop, basically sabotaging my hard work and effort all week. Come Monday, I felt sluggish and bloated and couldn't understand why my body was so sensitive to a few cheats.
Truth is. You can't out-exercise a bad diet. I was a yo-yo dieter through and through. One week I'd eat clean, the next I'd be eating all the junk.
I've been there. I've had all the motivation in the world that this time I was gonna commit. This time I was gonna lose that last 10# and keep it off. And then I'd fail. I wouldn't see results as soon as I'd expect. The scale would go UP...and STAY UP. I'd rate my progress on that stupid number and the cycle would start all over again.
But 2 years ago I decided enough was enough. What would happen if I committed 100% for 21 days? I told myself I was worth it. So I did. And it worked. I lost 10#. I felt amazing.
One decision allowed me to overcome the self-doubt, gain strength and confidence, find happiness and peace I had been searching for.
