Welcome to our mini series where we cover our favorite players from each position! Today we will look at the edge rushers from this class. Remember this doesn’t feature the best players from their positions, just guys who we think are fun to watch.
#1 Montez Sweat, Mississippi State
Strengths: Explosive, freakishly athletic, good against run and pass, high motor
Weaknesses: Heart condition may bring his draft stock down, not extremely powerful
Summary: Montez Sweat is a freak of nature. He has great speed, a high motor, and does everything extremely well for an edge rusher. To me he is a top 10 player without a doubt, he just has potential to dominate at the next level.
#2 Brian Burns, Florida State
Strengths: Elite speed and explosiveness, productive, high motor
Weaknesses: Not ideal size, not great against the run, not powerful
Summary: Brian Burns is extremely fun to watch. His speed is unmatched by any Ashe defender in this class, and his size shouldn’t matter that much at the next level. He’s not even that undersized, he has the height but not the weight. He may need a year or 2 to fully develop into a game changing pass rusher, but I love the upside he brings to the table.
#3 Ronheen Bingham, Arkansas State
Strengths: Good explosiveness, very good against pass and rush, gets a lot of pressures
Weaknesses: Size isn’t ideal l
Summary: Bingham is by far one of the most underrated players in this draft class. He brings a lot of great stuff to the table, and there’s no questioning that. He gets a lot of pressures, and he’s not a liability in the run game other. He’s another diamond in the rough type of player.
