"Keep the Experiences" Man, I've made mistakes. Some I knew I was making, others I was manipulatated into or jumped into naively. We all have. They can scar and bruise us, but for some reason we are still here. There's still breath in our lungs, our hearts are still beating. The sun rose this morning and most likely will set this evening. .

But what do we do with those ugly wounds from yesterday? At some point, healing feels almost insensitive to yourself. Forgiveness feels like denial. Optimism can feel like personally brain washing yourself, admist contradicting information we've experienced. .
.
There's a point where a Holy Vengeance begins to happen. That's when things really begin to change. You aren't moving on from your pain anymore, you're demanding revolution at the source. You won't simply heal, you'll train and conquer. You'll no longer hold on to the memories, you'll study them seeking wisdom for another. .
.
I don't know why we experience the pain sometimes. However, I do know that warriors are made out of bleak backstories... If you're brave enough to dig deep. .

I think my dog is really cute so I really just wanted to share a pic of her. BUT there is a reason for this post, I swear!

So long story short, my dog bites. Look at her little teef! It’s not the scariest thing in the world, but boy oh boy does she make herself look like the biggest, baddest dog ever. In truth, her bark is worse than her bite. 
When people come over, I tell them to just ignore her and she’ll ignore them. But how hard is that? Ignore this barking, snapping, ADORABLE LITTLE FLUFF BALL OF TERROR? Yeah right! 
But when you look her in the face and say “I’m not scared of you, tiny dog” she knocks it off and climbs in your lap. 
Exposure is like meeting my little dog. It’s scary. It’s barking and loud and telling you GO AWAY, YOU WILL GET HURT.

Except when we look back in the face of OCD and anxiety and say “do your worst” it backs down. OCD is yelling at you to be scared, staring at you with its mouth wide open ready to bite. But you’re stronger. You DO have the strength to not only face it, but tame it.

Out of ER again. This photo we wasn’t from the Abbott ER trip. But I am just going to use it anyways. So I got out of one ER Sunday night and all was going well.
However, apparently yesterday at school, Tuesday, I started yelling, I was crying, couldn’t make choices, wandering, etc etc. So the school resource officer wound up calling a crisis. The concussion was making me upset and having “strong behavioural changes” and I had to get checked out. Hmm... and not even into a week at school, another ambulance shows up... dang it. 
So, up in another ER. Haha, I must have been freaking out a lot as I wound  up in restraints and sedated.

I received an email yesterday from a kroma client that had achieved something she hadn’t experienced before. Freedom from “negative self-talk.” The cycle of negative self-talk sends most people into relapse.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) takes work, but it is possible to restructure our thinking to prevent lapse.

This client is using a card method to restructure her thinking, which reduces the active mind that likes to lie about progress.

I want to give a shout out to Whoever finally figured out my algorithm and why it was traumatizing me, your my hacker Angel. Why? Because they’ve changed it and it’s noticeable. I have a strange ritual I follow religiously. Actually, I have a lot of them, but my computer ritual is a specific stemming technique I use to calm down. Someone figured out my list and who to put on it and who to keep off. It figures out the posts that triggered me and it stopped posting them. My feed is clean and I can scroll and scroll and my feed stays the way I like it. My computer algorithm and me have achieved peace after nearly three years of War. I can’t explain what me and my computer have been through together, but it’s deep. If your into tech and ever wondered how your social media and such works, welcome to my world! Curiosity. That’s my realm. How aware is our technology and is it a hacker controlling my algorithms? Or is it the computer? Me and my device work as a team so I can communicate better and so I don’t get lost all the time. I recommend this book and I picked it up at my local library. While mindfulness is a total buzzword and current “cool” thing to do, it’s been around for thousands of years. •

Rightfully so. It’s very effective. •

The word itself, however, is a bit of an oxymoron. •
•
In order to be mindful, to be present trying to let go of your mind and instead use your five senses to usher you into the moment.

To become fully encompassed in the moment use your sense of sight, smell, taste, touch and sound. •
•
You may become entranced in a beautiful foreground in front of you, lost in the beautiful song of chirping birds in the trees, acutely aware by the cool sensation of a breeze or cold water on your skin. •

Whether you are new to mindfulness or well seasoned, using your senses as you walk through life will only strengthen your practice. •

Two weeks ago I sat in the kitchen of a woman who is suffering from hip & back pain.  I have been making home chaplaincy visits to help her create a practical cognitive behavioral therapy program to reduce her pain levels. As we set an appointment for my next visit she complained that her doctor suggested that she should work on losing weight to improve her health. I understand the impact of extra weight on the body when orthopedic challenges exist. Looking around the kitchen I reached for this 5 pound package of flour & handed it to the woman & said, “This is what an extra 5 pound feels like.” Yesterday when I arrived for our scheduled appointment the woman proudly shared that she has lost 5 pounds & for the first time understands the importance of healthy eating & light exercise in helping manage her pain.🙏🌈🦄💪🍎

Fake it until you make it.

A) We forget how blessed we are with everyday tasks being easy because we don't see them as a  chore or painful. 
B) We forget how to walk and do everyday tasks easy because we see them as painful or a chore.

C) Only when we get things taken away from us, we appreciate how we take every fine motor skill for granted. 
D) Can we over complicate it during rehab and focus TOO much on the fine motor skills?

Whilst all the cancer related stuff happens, in the background I'm still working on my #Anxiety and #Depression and taking my #Lexapro 
My mid 20s and earlier life was horrid. There was lots of good, dont get me wrong, but it was bloody rough on me. And in all honesty on my family and friends too. But, that is another story, for another day.

That life led me to here and it led me to 2 awesome #Pyschologists . My most recent one, who has the wickedest moustache, had been working on #CognitiveBehavioralTherapy with me. Although I haven't seen him for months, his sessions have stuck with me - stop and breathe; look back and see your progress; how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time; and are the the worm or the eagle? (Do you see the small picture or the whole thing?). And yes, even with all that, a lot of what is happening feels like its someone else's story and I'm morbidly watching. Plus I've now had what I'm sure was a panic attack in the middle of a work meeting (totally just packed up and bailed in the middle of someone talking, my bad 😮) and I've had chest pains from the anxiety. But I am still kicking. I think. 
Right now I am riding the #AssistedReproduction hormonal rollercoaster. My poor hubby.... #CancerJourney #BreastCancer

I would like to take you on a trip down Distorted Brain Lane. That’s right, your brain has been and most likely will be distorted a few times throughout your life

Maladaptive thought processes also called cognitive distortions are thought patterns we engage in almost daily and can really affect our mental health. ———————————————————
There are a ton of cognitive distortions but today I want to focus on.... CATASTROPHIZING ———————————————————
When we catastrophize we do two things 
1. Jump to conclusions 
2. The conclusions are always worst case scenarios ———————————————————
No wonder we begin to feel anxious as we receive that dry e-mail from boss that reads “please come see me” no emojis, exclamation points, or explanation to this dry e-mail obviously means “you’re fired” right? ———————————————————
When we catastrophize we take bits and pieces of a situation and we jump to conclusions about what is about to happen next, if that conclusion is bad, we will feel bad, if the conclusion is good, we will feel good. ———————————————————
If you find yourself on the negative side of things and you catch yourself thinking worst case, understand it’s a normal thought process and then take a step back and ask yourself:
1. What is making me think of this outcome?
2.Are there any other possible outcomes 
3. Take a few deep breaths, and then reevaluate the situation ————————————————————————
And always remember that most things we are so worried about, never even happen ———————————————————

Quando nos deparamos com obstáculos, muitas vezes estacionamos, talvez por nos sentir cansados, ou achar  impossível continuar, ou as vezes estamos tendo uma visão distorcida e achando que o problema é muito maior do que podemos “enfrentar“.
