How about we take it down a notch from yesterday’s intensity? After all, it is the weekend and that’s certainly no time for heavy-weighted posts. Today is a good day! It’s sunny and warm, there’s some much-needed caffeine in front of me, and I’m sitting in the comfort of my natural habitat: a stool in a coffee shop where you can feel the breeze blowing through. I’ve decided I’m going to search out a new coffee shop each day too to avoid sinking into a cyclical rut of boring repetition. That’s a pretty fine, groovy wave to be riding, am I right?
But it gets better than that. I would be flat-out lying if I tried to say that the times I’ve been sitting in shops recently have shared any sort of resemblance to a groove. For the most part, I’ve been emotionally lost in a void, mining the molten-core of my brain for some inkling of an idea as to what I’m doing here. When I say “here”, I mean physically in this country that might as well be in another universe, as well as in life. What am I working towards? Do I even know why I’m doing the things I’m doing, or is it just more of a purposeless coast due to the lack of anything better?
Yea, remember when I said it won’t be intense? I may have lied, you’re going to experience another two-part series here; so get comfortable. These are big questions to tackle, and I often think I can do it in front of my iPad with a flat white; if I just stare at it long and hard enough, that Eureka(!) moment will pop up and I’ll be flooded with the inspiration and answers to life that I’ve been seeking. •
I’ve come to the conclusion that this style of thinking will only result in something reminiscent of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy where they design a super-computer to figure out the answer to life, and it takes 7.5 million years to come up with the ever-useless, simpleton answer 42. Rather than delving into self-torture where you’re only going to come up with 42, or some variation, just be patient and be active in figuring it out. Instead of looking for an answer, just open your perspectives; put yourself out there for new opportunities, switch directions, or hop to a new groove. (Please continue to next post, thank you!)
