Concluding the @branchstreetcoffee tasting odyssey with their Kenya Konyu AB. This one is clean and vibrantly juicy.
The aroma is rich with a berry and currant blend (loganberry, gooseberry, red currant), a spicy honey, earthy/floral stone fruit, and suggestions of toasted cacao. The cup first presents with loganberry, gooseberry, and red currant medley. The cup centers around a syrupy, spiced honey and aromatic Idaho hops (apricot, black tea, herbs). The cup coalesces with a finish of berry, Idaho hops, and suggestions of toasty cacao.
This is a complex and pleasantly tart coffee that my wife and I have been both enjoying this week. She loves Kenyan coffees (especially those with caramel and currant). This coffee recently received a 95 point rating from @coffeereview.
Around 540 smallholder farms contribute cherries to the Konyu station which is one of 11 factories part of the Kabare Farmers Cooperative Society. This lot is an AB screen of SL-28 and SL-34 grown ~1700 masl around Konyu, Kirinyaga, Kenya. A vibrant coffee for another vibrant (but cool) sunny day. Happy Thursday!
