We live in a society where women are beginning to be encouraged to breastfeed their children....... until society thinks the child is too old.
Then, it becomes,
“A bit excessive.”
“A dependency issue.”
What if I told you that natural term breastfeeding is the biological norm?
What if I told you that worldwide, the average age of a nursing child is 4+ years old?
What if I told you that major world health organizations recommend nursing until at LEAST 2 years of age?
What if I told you that breastmilk doesn’t suddenly lose nutritional value based on a child’s age? Just like broccoli doesn’t lose nutritional value, neither does breastmilk.
What if I told you it’s more than milk? I am a resting ground & a safe haven for my child who cannot yet self regulate her emotions. Nursing provides her the comfort & confidence she needs.
What if I told you that at the end of the day, it isn’t any of your business? Unless you’re offering words of support and encouragement, I don’t want to hear it.
What if I told you that I am not ready to stop nursing & neither is my child?
You cannot say “I support breastfeeding BUT/IF/WHEN...” No. That is not support.
Support natural term breastfeeding. And watch generations thrive. Encouraging the mother’s today, is blossoming the mother’s of tomorrow. - 14 hours ago
