Volunteer leaders from the Montana Chapter of BHA are active on more than a dozen coalitions/collaborations across the state, ranging in focus from local land-management issues to sporting concerns, the future of our river systems to statewide public lands advocacy.
One of these coalitions is the Three Rivers Collaborative in Missoula, consisting of many passionate user groups of who care about the future of the Clark Fork, Blackfoot and Bitterroot Rivers. This group recently coalesced to discuss the future use and public access to these precious waterways with an emphasis on the need to balance different interests and save this system from potentially being loved-to-death.
@MontanaBHA member @rileymt has been representing the interests of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers in this group, and we'd like to give him a shoutout for all his time. Thanks, Riley!
This is just one example of a pile of work going on behind the scenes that our volunteers don't always get the credit they deserve on, though we know this isn't why they're involved. Riley, like hundreds of other Montana BHA members, give their time, their treasures and their talents because they care deeply about the future of our wild public lands, waters and wildlife.
It's that simple, and it's pretty frickin' cool.
