The number 1 Exercise You should be Doing - Kettlebell Swings-
People tend to shy away from the Kettlebells. Some ladies might say, “That’s too heavy.” Guys say “I need to do some heavy deadlifts.” Don’t get me wrong. Deadlifts are a great exercise. But, Kettlebell Swings mechanically are perfect for teaching people the correct way to use their hips, core and overall body. And, you’re Deadlifting strength will benefit from doing them.
One thing to think about when performing a KB Swing is focus on moving your body and not the weight. A swing should be punched forward by the hips, not pushed slowly into place. A hip hinge and not a squatting movement. The movement should be ballistic in nature like a bullet coming out of a gun. There should a moment of acceleration followed by a coasting. This acceleration comes from the power center of your body, the core and the hips! Done correctly, there’s really very little overload to the spine. So, for those of you afraid to hurt your back, proper form will nix that idea. -
The Kettlebell Swing is great for building total body strength, power, and balance, while improving cardiovascular stamina as well as a an amazingly strong core. -
Check out the vids for variations to the Kettlebell Swing. I use @swingthiskettlebell for a reference, he’s the man and does a great job explaining this KB movement as well as many others. 😀#kettlebellworkout #kettlebellswings #coreworkout #gluteworkout #strongcore #cincinnatifitness #strength - 1 day ago
