I’ve been pondering a dream, an idea, something that feels too big for me. The night of my birthday party I told God, if this is you, confirm it tonight. To be honest I didn’t expect confirmation. I was playing one of those games with God. The type where I think I have Him backed into a corner, surprised or somehow blindsided by my last minute request. Oh the games we play with God!
During that evening in walked one of my dear friends, and I share the dream in passing and she almost leaps into my arms. And then she says something along the lines of “I’m going to help you make this happen!” And I was stunned. Because no one says that. People say “Cool, that’s a great idea” or “WOW, can’t wait to see that!” Rarely does someone take it upon themselves to actually dig in and invest their time.
The next day she sent an email to schedule time together with another one of our friends, because they both wanted in. SF friends, get this - they followed up. They legit organized a thing. They didn’t just say it. They did it. Again I was stunned. In a town where it often seems we’re barely surviving, they abundantly gave their time, ideas and prayers, and began to help push this vision uphill. They have their own dreams and lives, but they sowed into mine.
So tonight we did a thing. And it’s the beginning, but I’m stoked. And I left dinner with tons of ideas and plans, but most of all I left feeling like I’m the luckiest person ever. To have friends who say yes to my dreams. And then I thought, I want to be that person. A person who says “YES to your dream! And I’m going to help make that happen!” We can all be those people. People who cook chicken, pop a bottle and say tell me everything. Then pray and offer practical help. What a beautiful community that would be. Thank you @abbystolfo and @coreylowgreen7 - 2 hours ago
