Let's be real, though... We all do this. Your life could literally be falling apart and as we walk into church and someone asks "how are you?" ...we respond quickly without thinking, "good" or "blessed".... meanwhile we are dying on the inside. 😀😬😑
Why do we do this? Some of us are afraid to show others "the other side of us", some are prideful, others don't want to feel like a burden, others just don't want to get into a lengthy conversation, and some have listened to the lies of the enemy.
The enemy tells us not to share: it's too disgusting, everyone has it together and we don't, we are alone, we should be ashamed, we should hold it in and figure it out on our own. Keep it in the darkness and out of the light. And just like mold, our sin, feelings, or problems grow and fester. It stays in our heart, and even though it's killing us, we continue to hold it in, put on a brave "church face" and keep going.
But God desires to bring it into the light... for that is where our hearts become open and that is where true healing happens. And yes, if we confess to God, we are forgiven; but there is power in telling our brothers and sisters where we are at. It forces everything into the light, out of the darkness, out of the grasp of the enemy and into the healing hands of God and loving community. - 2 minutes ago
