Dodge the Easter bullsh*t friends! "Burn off those extra calories!" Ergh, these infographics always make me cringe.
Sure, it's great to have some awareness around the calories in foods we consume but we need to stop this equation which takes all the joy out of movement.
Movement doesn't have to equate to punishment. It can be an honouring of this fine human spacesuit and a celebration of how wildly capable we are. Movement can help us navigate our inner world, kick start creative juices and reignite our sense of discovery and playfulness.
These messages only serve to propel us into deeper shame and guilt around our already complex relationships with food and movement.
Instead, why not eat what you feel like this Easter without guilt tripping yourself into doing 15 HIIT classes next week?
Let's remember that chocolate can be enjoyed anytime of the year (as can all foods) and this holiday isn't an excuse to binge. Enjoy yourself, consciously eat what makes you feel good and move for the love of it. Oh, and avoid these 'infographics' like the plague. - 3 hours ago
