When did it become so hard to support others who are doing things that make them happy?

Your friend has an Etsy shop? Share her listings! Your sister is selling makeup in an MLM? Like her page! Your mom wrote a blog? Comment on it! I’m not saying you have to join them or spend your money on things you don’t want, but you also don’t need to take a dump on their happiness and scoff at their attempt at success.

Maybe she’ll surprise you and find success. Maybe she won’t. But what’s it to you? We hear a lot about not caring about other’s options of us, but what about taking a look at our opinions of others? Why do you have so many negative thoughts about what anyone else is doing? Who hurt you?? Really, next time you see someone sharing what you feel is absurd or think is stupid  and you want to poop on them, ask yourself, are they hurting you? Are they your responsibility? No? Then move on along and let her do her. Unfollow, unfriend, do what you got to do. Or maybe think about how you would want to be treated if you had taken a leap of faith and joined an opportunity to better your life or your family and maybe treat her the same way!

It doesn’t take much effort to show a little support. It takes even less effort to not break her down.

At the end of the day, just hope she is happier today than she was yesterday!

I was 15, my boyfriend just broke up with me, and I thought I needed an external fix to heal my internal wound of not feeling good enough.
⠀⠀
That’s the message I received from the diet industry, family and society for so long.
⠀⠀
So I went to the gym, starting tracking everything I ate and became obsessed with my calories in and calories out.
⠀⠀
I spent the next 13 years trying to change and control everything in my external world, to get rid of the unworthiness I felt inside.
⠀⠀
All that left me with was feeling more like shit.
⠀⠀
Our whole lives were programmed to believe we have a problem and we need to be fixed my some magical cure.
⠀⠀
If only we could lose 10 pounds then we’d be happy.
If only we could meet ‘the guy’ then we’d be complete.
If only we had the perfect job, then we’ll feel whole.
⠀⠀
This is all an illusion. I lost the weight, I got the guy, and still... the unworthiness crept in.
⠀⠀
We cannot put a bandaid on our internal wounds. We might feel instant gratification.... but I promise it won’t last long.
⠀⠀
We need to do the internal personal work to feel the internal joy.
We need to feel all our feelings to heal.
We need to stop putting bandaids on bullet wounds (as my coach @samanthaskelly would say).

I used to have the most f*cked up relationship with food 😩👇🏼
.
I became interested in healthy eating in college — where, you guessed it, sorority life mixed with no more dance to keep me active helped me gain the “freshman 15.”
.
But what started as a healthy interest quickly spiralled into an unhealthy obsession. I vividly remember tracking every single bite of food in MyFitnessPal, and having competitions with my best friend to see who could eat the lowest amount of calories 🤦🏻‍♀️
.
I thought that the more I worked out and the less I ate, the better results I would get. But something crazy happened — it actually BACKFIRED.
.
The less I would eat, the more uncontrollable I became around food. I would see a cookie, and instead of eating one, I would eat 12. 🍪 It was like I would black out and eat ALL the food, only to “wake up” from the binge and feel so guilty and ashamed.
.
I struggled with binge and emotional eating for 3 years — using food as a drug to numb out to issues I didn’t want to deal with. No one knew what was going on. In fact, I looked “fine” on the outside, but felt SO completely alone and consumed by my guilt and shame.
.
Fast forward and I realize there were a few fundamental lessons I needed to learn during that period:
.
• eating less is not always the answer
• there are tools to deal with my emotions in ways that don’t involve food at all
• guilt and shame cannot exist when you speak them aloud, so if you are struggling — REACH OUT TO SOMEONE YOU TRUST ♥️
.
most importantly, IT’S NEVER ABOUT THE FOOD. We all logically know a chicken salad with avocado is a healthier choice than a burger and fries, but there’s a reason we don’t make that choice consistently. We are HUMANS with EMOTIONS, and our emotions drive our food choices.
.
If you’re struggling, know that you are SO normal. You are not broken. You have done nothing wrong.
.
There are so many tools I used during that dark period in my life, that I now use with my clients to help them overcome the same struggles.
.
It is SO possible to find freedom from food obsession, and develop a healthier relationship with food & your body.

The last time you felt..⁣
💛Confident and really felt like you could wear anything that you wanted!⁣

💛Felt fantastic AF and stunningly beautiful! ⁣

💛Felt truly comfortable when people had eyes on you!⁣
⁣
You embraced the fuck out of yourself!💜⁣
⁣
💭Remember that time and then make a list of all the things that have happened from that time up until now. ⁣
⁣
💡Think to yourself⁣
⁣
✨Was it having kinds or entering a new relationship? ⁣
⁣
What does this look like for you?⁣
⁣
Then really think what the common links are to where you were and how great you felt to how you are feeling now!⁣
⁣
💡Think back to the time when you were the sole focus and worry in your life!⁣ ⁣
✨Likely it has a thing or two to do with a relationship in your life.⁣

The correlation is that our habits go unraveling with new life conditions. Other people’s habits get placed upon our lives, we stop the healthy habits and sometimes gain the weight. So your subconscious is really trying to protect you from these things happening again to you. ⁣
⁣
Your subconscious lives and thrives off of evidence! It links previous relationships and what soon came after with letting it all slip to the wayside and your body rejects the idea of you “ getting back into shape” since it previously has failed. ⁣

Red flags show up in the form of:⁣
❗️Self sabotage (emotional eating, skipping workouts ect)⁣
⁣
AND the more you stray from what you know you need to do for yourself the MORE unsure and insecure you slowly become.⁣

🖐🏼Look at what is blocking your subconscious from allowing you to move forward. What is it afraid that is going to happen again?⁣
⁣
The last time you were in the best shape of your life, what happened around  that time that maybe made you feel unsafe or bad from then till now?⁣
⁣
Than ask yourself why would my subconscious link that time in my life with me trying to get in shape now?⁣
What evidence are you giving it that’s making it think this is not a good idea.⁣

Change is something so many of us fear.

It’s just easier to stay where where you are and continuing to do  the things you’re already used to. I have been there, there was a point in my life where I was so scared of change, to do something different, to get out of my comfort zone. But the reality of it was, that I was damaging so many different areas in my life because of the fear to be willing to shift my way of thinking.

We rarely ever take a chance or a leap of faith just because we are curious! It seems a little reckless & foolish when we’re unsure of what lies on the other side.

But here’s the thing Babes!
—> NOTHING in life is meant to stay the same!🙌🏻😘

We’ve been taught to believe that our circumstances are unchangeable. That we just have to accept what we are dealt in life. 👉🏻 That’s so far from the truth!!

We are in complete control of what direction our lives get to go. Sure there will always be curveballs and things that will be out if our control - but we are FULLY responsible for how we respond! -
We’re POWERFUL beings and have the ability to create our lives! We can’t wait for permission or for perfect timing to start making the changes and taking the chances. 🙌🏻

We all go through seasons in our life. Seasons of change. 🌷☀️❄️🍂
Seasons of feeling stuck & broken. Seasons of feeling on top of the world and so brave. 
Season that will ALWAYS be changing. Always moving from old to new, comfortable to uncomfortable, known to unknown.

I have been there, there was a point in my life where I was so scared of change, to do something different, to get out of my comfort zone. But the reality of it was, that I was damaging so many different areas in my life because of the fear to be willing to shift my way of thinking. - We rarely ever take a chance or a leap of faith just because we are curious! It seems a little reckless & foolish when we’re unsure of what lies on the other side. - But here’s the thing Babes! —> NOTHING in life is meant to stay the same!🏻 - We’ve been taught to believe that our circumstances are unchangeable. That we just have to accept what we are dealt in life. 🏻 That’s so far from the truth!! - We are in complete control of what direction our lives get to go. Sure there will always be curveballs and things that will be out if our control - but we are FULLY responsible for how we respond! - We’re POWERFUL beings and have the ability to create our lives! We can’t wait for permission or for perfect timing to start making the changes and taking the chances. 🏻 • We all go through seasons in our life. Seasons of change. Seasons of feeling stuck & broken. Seasons of feeling on top of the world and so brave. Season that will ALWAYS be changing. Always moving from old to new, comfortable to uncomfortable, known to unknown. Accept it. Embrace it. The biggest objection I hear from people afraid of starting a new plan or working toward a goal is...
. “I don’t have a gym membership, or time to be in the gym!” .

I get it! I don’t either!! (On the time). The good news is- that doesn’t need to stop you. No gym needed!

Why act like everyone else? Why not be yourself?

Your afraid people won’t like you?
Your afraid you’re too weird?
Your not sure of who you are?
You don’t like who you are?

That is where you have to build the mindset of saying “Fuck what anyone else thinks of me because I want people to love me for who I am and not who I am trying to be!”

If you’re constantly faking who you are then all of your friendships and relationships are all going to be fake and built on lies.
In the end you’re only hurting yourself.

I haven’t been to the gym since Friday. My Psoas has been acting up due to all the trauma I’ve had in my abdomen, so I took some days off to let my body rest. 💆🏻‍♀️
⠀
A few years ago, the thought of taking time off from the gym would have sent me into whirlwind of self-deprecating and irrational thoughts, anxiety would have ensued, and I may not have even taken off as much time as I needed, therefore pushing my body past limits.
⠀
But guess what... I haven’t worked out since Friday and NOTHING BAD HAPPENED.
⠀
🙅🏻‍♀️ I didn’t gain a ton of weight.
💪🏻 My muscles are still there.
🏋🏼‍♀️ I didn’t lose strength.
😴 I caught up on sleep.
🧖🏻‍♀️ I relaxed.
💃🏻 My body recovered and my Psoas is feeling better.

Nothing but positive things ✅
⠀
Taking some time off the gym, whether it’s for a physical or mental reason is 100% NECESSARY.
⠀
I promise you, it will be fine.
⠀
Hell, 9 times out of 10 you get back to it feeling better than you did before!
⠀
So relax, girl.
⠀
✨ Part of living a healthy life includes knowing when to take a step back as well as not feeling guilty for giving your body what it needs.

PS. Taking some time off does NOT make you any less dedicated than Shiela over there on the stair master, OKAY?

Throwback to this picture I loved it b/c you couldn't really 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓 yet I never shared it.

It's so amazing looking back to an old perception and view but really, truly how I filtered myself physically. Doing anything and everything to 𝒉𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓!

ℙ𝕙𝕪𝕤𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕝 𝔽𝕚𝕝𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤 is filtering or not showing up fully in your physical state due to a variety of reasons but for now will talk body image wise.

There are so many ways physical filters are used.

If we take body image for just one example...there is so much judgement that may come up for people or comparison and this feeling of lack.

When in this state of not accepting your body or comparing it or hating it there is a not only work to be done to come back to a place of embracing but also such a perception that needs to be changed!

Easier said than done, actions speak louder than words.

Here are 3️⃣ steps to come back to a place of embracing vs. shaming your body:

1️⃣𝕊𝕥𝕠𝕡 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕃𝕒𝕓𝕖𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕘
▪️What words do you describe or call yourself? Are you supporting or labeling yourself?  The labels create a story that has been told for far too long "I am___" or "I am not ___enough" First things first, notice them and don't analyze!

2️⃣𝕊𝕥𝕠𝕡 ℂ𝕠𝕞𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕘
▪️Do you find yourself scrolling? Looking at others pics & thinking of yourself in a dimmer light?

3️⃣𝕃𝕠𝕠𝕜, 𝔸𝕡𝕡𝕣𝕖𝕔𝕚𝕒𝕥𝕖, 𝕊𝕡𝕖𝕒𝕜
▪️Now that you have seen what you are saying about yourself and/or thinking & comparing to it's time to change the habit.
▪️ Write a list of the top things you say or feel that aren't supporting or embracing you and your body...Write them down.
▪️ Circle what stands the most.
▪️Replace these with a positive statement.
▪️Stand in front of the mirror, look at you in the eyes, say the statements outloud!

These TWO SIMPLE WORDS have changed everything...

One of my clients recently told me that my voice was playing in her mind in a tough situation “get curious”.
.
These two simple words can start to shift your ENTIRE perspective on not only food and your body, but life.
.
So start asking yourself better questions.
.
What is this experience trying to show or teach me?
.
What else can I learn about the other person or group of people in this situation?
.
What more can I learn about the environment I’m in right now? Physically, emotionally, energetically?
.
Seeing life through the lens of CURIOSITY rather than through a lens of judgment has straight up changed my life, my clients lives and it can change yours too.
.
Does this mean I am 💯 judgment free?! HELL NO. I’m a human and judgment is a part of our existence, but we don’t have to see EVERYTHING through the judgment lens.
.
You have the power to switch lenses in the middle of any situation.

You have the power to approach situations with a curiosity lens.
.
You have the power to use the curiosity lens to reflect on PAST experiences too.

Yesterday I told Ben I wanted to do lunges and this is what he came up with 🙄 swipe to see my reaction afterwards 😂👌🏻

🍑 Circuit:
Kettlebell lunges
Sprint sled push
Box jumps
Sprint sled push
Kettlebell lunges
.
Place the sled halfway between where your kettlebells are and the box. Perform kettlebell lunges till you reach the sled and push as fast you can. Bang out 8-10 box jumps, then push the sled back to where you left your kettle bells, and lunge your way back to the starting line. Repeat 3x!

Honestly in the beginning, I really doubted if I was even going to be capable of doing it. But I pushed through and surpassed my limitation of myself, because that’s what it was. MY OWN thoughts were limiting me. Not Ben. Not the weights. It was me.

The same mind that told myself I couldn’t, told myself I COULD. And that’s what we all need to hear more of.

In a battle that is seemingly always fought with fear, anxiety, depression, anger, and insecurity, it is so important to remember those feelings aren’t from God.

Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control are from God.

I challenge you to just say “hi” to someone you might not normally say hi to today. We are ALL going through something, you small act of acknowledgement might make the world of difference to someone else.

All most of us want in life is to feel seen and heard. To feel like we have a purpose, that we’re not invisible, that our goals and dreams aren’t dumb or too big for us to achieve.

I want to challenge you, for the next month, pick one of the fruits of the spirit each day to actively work on. Practice loving your life from one of those fruits every single day. Watch how quickly your mindset changes. How quickly your gratitude increases. And how much of a difference you can make in a short amount of time, just by being a lighthouse to others.

If we want to change the world, we have to start with ourselves. Today I’m choosing to exercise my fruit of “joy”, what are you choosing today?

Might have lost some weight from chopping off my hair ✂️😂. But really let’s talk about...imperfections.

Skin folds, cellulite, wrinkles and dimples...we all have them. Heck, I even had cellulite when I was 115 lbs and 10% body fat.

Now, I could go on and talk about what cellulite is composed of and how you can diminish it...but it’s only a band-aid on the real problem.

The real problem is thinking there is something wrong with it.

We all have arms and we’re not sitting here googling how to get rid of arms...now are we?

So why are we so caught up on cellulite and natural beauty marks that we call imperfections?

When we say “smooth is good...bumpy is bad” it’s really just a perception. And if it’s nothing but a label, that means we can choose to re-label it as something beautiful.

With the sheer amount of diets available today, it can be extremely hard to know which one will work best for you⁣⁣⁣

A quick google search can populate hundreds of results- keto, Whole 30, Atkins, South Beach, IIFYM, juice cleanses, fasting- the list just keeps going on and on⁣⁣⁣

✨Here are some key things to keep in mind as you’re deciding which diet you want to pursue✨⁣⁣⁣

1️⃣ It should feel more like a lifestyle as opposed to a strict diet regimen ✅⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Finding something that can seamlessly fit into your current lifestyle by making small tweaks will be much easier to maintain long-term than making giant, drastic overhauls⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2️⃣ It shouldn’t make you feel restricted or deprived⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Cutting calories to unrealistic/unsustainable deficits is a surefire way to constantly feel hungry and unsatisfied⁣⁣⁣

3️⃣ It should still allow you to enjoy the foods you love🍫⁣⁣⁣

The tradeoff of having to track my food but not be limited in food choices was worth it to me⁣⁣⁣

Being able to actually eat food (and a lot of it) and have dessert, cocktails & other fun foods guilt free was freeing. It provided me the balance I was desperately searching for🙏🏼⁣⁣⁣

How to know which diet is the best diet for YOU️⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ With the sheer amount of diets available today, it can be extremely hard to know which one will work best for you⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ A quick google search can populate hundreds of results- keto, Whole 30, Atkins, South Beach, IIFYM, juice cleanses, fasting- the list just keeps going on and on⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Here are some key things to keep in mind as you’re deciding which diet you want to pursue⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1️⃣ It should feel more like a lifestyle as opposed to a strict diet regimen ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Finding something that can seamlessly fit into your current lifestyle by making small tweaks will be much easier to maintain long-term than making giant, drastic overhauls⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 2️⃣ It shouldn’t make you feel restricted or deprived⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Cutting calories to unrealistic/unsustainable deficits is a surefire way to constantly feel hungry and unsatisfied⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 3️⃣ It should still allow you to enjoy the foods you love⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Cutting out whole food groups or banishing sugar forever may give you quick results. But will they be LASTING results? Is it realistic that you’ll be able to do this forever? And what happens when you add these foods back in?🤷🏼‍♀️⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 4️⃣ It should still allow you to LIVE 🥳⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Having to say no to or stress about every social occasion can take the fun out of life⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ️All of these diets can work, but the BEST diet is the diet that works for YOU️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For me, that was macro tracking🥬🌮⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The tradeoff of having to track my food but not be limited in food choices was worth it to me⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Being able to actually eat food (and a lot of it) and have dessert, cocktails & other fun foods guilt free was freeing. It provided me the balance I was desperately searching for🏼⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It fits into my lifestyle️⁣⁣⁣ I don’t feel deprived️⁣⁣⁣ I can still have all the foods I love & enjoy️⁣⁣⁣ I can still be social & live my life️⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Have you been able to find a diet approach that checks all these boxes? I wish I knew... .

Patience - in my journey to being the best version of me. In my walk on the health and fitness side of the world. When I really started to take my health into my own hands, I was in such a rush to experience changes, see the results for the time I was putting in. I would say the most immediate change I had was my energy levels, but I want to "see" more. I wish I had known then, that this would be a lifestyle change and over many years I would "see" so many different bodies on myself, different versions of myself. I am in this for the long haul, and you should be too

To not start dieting on 1,200 calories - I am going to break this down as simple and quick as possible. In order to lose weight, you need to be in a caloric deficit, right? Right! Okay, now we are all on the same page. In order to continue to trend downwards with the weight you want to lose, over time you will have to decrease calories. If you are STARTING your "diet" eating 1,200 calories, there is truly no where to take away from. NO GROWN ADULT should be eating below that (unless you're competing and even then, there is a fine line) Start your cutting calories as HIGH as you can. If you are not experienced with this, HIRE A COACH .

That losing weight won't make me happy - let me say it again. Having abs won't bring you happiness, losing the weight does NOT equal your happiness. You are SO worthy of happiness. You SHOULD be proud of the body you are in, while working towards the body you want. You are allowed to want to improve while also having SELF LOVE and RESPECT
.

Do yourself a solid - assess where you're at in your life and in your walk with health/fitness/nutrition. Be realistic with yourself and reach out to me if you have any questions regarding training/nutrition OR if you are just looking for a little guidance on where to start! 2 months into our relationship, my #endometriosis reared it’s ugly head.

From then on, I was sick for 2.5 years of our relationship. I was on hefty medication for months, had two surgeries, accompanied with two very different and tough recoveries, depression, anxiety, pain, & fear of the unknown.

Yet, throughout all of that... THIS guy was there.
⠀
Did we have problems?
⠀
Abso-fuckin-lutely.
⠀
But everything we dealt with has helped us build the solid-as-rock relationship we have.
⠀
We’ve been together for 3.5 years now. More than two-thirds of it was spent handling my health issues and learning to cope.
⠀
But this past year, since my last surgery, has been truly amazing.
⠀
And I can’t thank this guy enough for sticking by my side throughout it all and coming out on the other side with me. ♥️

Waiting until you find that person who truly believes in you is so SO worth it ya’ll.

Chocolate Peanut energy ball recipe (Save recipe for later!)🤤

I can’t believe Im sharing this recipe with you....
.
This is my all time FAVORITE recipe that I make on a weekly basis to keep stocked in the freezer.
.
Ingredients:
🍪1 cup dates
🍪1 cup peanuts
🍪2 cup oats
🍪1/2 cup peanut butter
🍪1/2 cup chocolate chips
🍪1/3 cup agave
🍪1 tsp vanilla
🍪Dash of sea salt (if desired)
.
Instructions:
1️⃣ In a food processor place dates, peanuts and oats inside and blend on high until it reaches a flour like consistency.

2️⃣ Add chocolate chips, peanut butter, vanilla, sea salt and pulse together until reached a dough like texture.
.
3️⃣Scoop or roll into tablespoon size balls and put into the fridge for 30 mins to set. ENJOY!

💁🏻‍♀️Pro tip: keep these bad boys in the freezer for when you have a cup of tea. They never freeze through and last for a month in the freezer.

We did it!!!!! Me and my @hungryforhappiness tribe graduated!! 🎓👯‍♀️❤️ I’m keeping this diploma in my classroom for my last 16 days as a teacher.

I’m keeping this as a reminder to celebrate my wins, continue going after my dreams and to only look back to celebrate how far I’ve come.

The past 10 months taught me that although I didn’t have disordered eating behaviors anymore I still had a lot to work through.

My greatest takeaways and lessons over the last 10 months were: ➡️learning to speak my truth
➡️learning how to set and maintain healthy boundaries with family, friends and co-workers
➡️how to release old limiting identities that weren’t serving me anymore
➡️how to step into my power and stop playing small
➡️how to connect with and love my inner child more
➡️what my protectors were and how to get into a relationship with them and question them
➡️how to forgive myself and others
➡️how to master my energy
➡️how to FEEL and observe my emotions and thoughts
➡️stop the people pleasing and perfectionism
➡️eat intuitively
➡️build more self-compassion for myself
➡️improve my relationships
➡️stop projecting onto my partner
➡️love each part of me, even the parts I used to hate

This is the work I GET to do and spread to YOU!!! I am beyond excited to share all this greatness with you all!

“Healing isn’t about changing who you are, it’s about changing your relationship to WHO you are. A fundamental part of that is honoring how you feel”✨ I am extremely lucky that I have never had a serious mental illness. Approximately 1 in 25 adults in the US (11.2 million) experience a serious mental illness that substantially interferes with everyday activities. However, I do struggle with stress provoked anxiety. It’s gotten better over the last year or two, but it really impacted my productivity in graduate school.

It usually happens when I worry about situations or events out of my control. When I let other people’s actions or words impact me emotionally and it’s happened when I wasn’t in a good living situation and when I’ve had conflict with friends. 
May is mental health awareness month and I hope sharing small things like this will slowly help break the STIGMA and make mental health a priority ❤️ Whether that’s seeing a therapist, talking to a friend, going to the gym, or being alone. Find what works for YOU!

My favorite things to get my head right: gym time💪🏼 with the music blasted 🎶or a walk outside🍃 with a podcast on!

Do you eat when you're hungry?
.
Yeah, obviously, you'd say... And you'd probably be wrong!
.
We're surrounded by so much food that we have ended up using it even when we are not hungry.
. 
Food is fuel, it's our energy source, and we just abuse it because we're bored. Because our attention span is getting shorter and we have no idea what to do with ourselves if we're not always busy doing something.
.
We end up using food as a coping mechanism, instead of dealing with our emotions in a healthy, constructive way. .
We use food to fill up an emptiness inside us without considering why that emptiness is there in the first place.
.
Because food has ended up as a means to fill up our life instead of our stomach, we've lost our sense of hunger.
.
We're no longer eating because we need sustenance, we eat because we have 5 free minutes. We don't even know what real hunger feels like anymore ffs!
.
So, how do we fix this? How do we re-learn to eat only when hungry?
.
Well, first we need to reset our hunger cues, which is the most difficult thing.
.
I started with some mindfulness exercises, paying attention to how I'm feeling before a meal, is my stomach growling, am I starting to imagine how my next meal looks like, stuff like that.
.
Then I started paying attention to my emotions. Am I feeling down and need a quick pick me up, am I trying to avoid some feelings, is my hunger driven by my lack of activities?
.
If I notice any emotions affecting my hunger, I change my focus, and usually do a quick 10-15 minutes meditation session.
.
Also, I drink some water, as the thirst and hunger centers in our hypothalamus are very close together, and their cues might be misinterpreted and confused.
.
Other than that, it's just a constant practice in mindful eating.

5 QUICK / EASY / HEALTHY MEAL IDEAS 🥒🍓🥑🍌 Last night I shared my dinner on my stories and talked about how eating healthy can be SO simple and easy, but sometimes we convince ourselves that it’s supposed to be complicated and hard 😅

So I wanted to share 5 REAL LIFE, simple (read: lazy), and healthy meals that I eat all the time. K? K 😋👇🏼

🍝 SPAGHETTI SWAP
- chickpea pasta (I like @eatbanza)
- sautée spiralized zucchini and baby spinach
- add marinara / your fave pasta sauce
- top with parm
👉🏼 packed with fiber + 25g plant-based protein
.
🍫 DESSERT OATS
- quick oats or oat bran cooked in water
- mix in @pescience pb vegan protein (code: MARIE)
- swirl in peanut butter and 1/2 serving mini choc chips
👉🏼 tastes like dessert but you can eat it for breakfast 😇
.
🌮 LAZY CHICKEN FAJITAS
- shred up some rotisserie chicken, add @traderjoes chili lime seasoning
- sautée peppers + onions
- serve with warm tortillas, salsa, and avocado
👉🏼 satisfies all of your cravings for Mexican and makes for a fun at-home date night!

3 WAYS TO HELP COPE WITH DEPRESSION⁣

*Disclaimer: I am in no way stating that these things will help get rid of depression as it depends on the severity of it. However, it is scientifically proven that these things I mention can help alleviate symptoms so read on friend!⁣

I wrote a post yesterday about my depression and I wanted to give you some tips today that specifically helped me. These things took time and the results did not come fast. You have to REALLY want to change your habits and go against everything that is comfortable for you to see changes.⁣
⁣
I have been surrounded by many people dealing with bouts of depression and the majority do not realize how freaking common it is! Like 16 million adults deal with it, common😶 Even as common as it is, it’s still terrifying reaching out for help. These tips may be able to bring some insight to you and help relieve symptoms:⁣
⁣
1. Do things that make you feel good! Go back to a hobby you use to LOVE or something that would get you excited to try. Some of my favorites are dancing💃, riding horses🐎, and everything that has to do with summer🌞. ⁣
⁣
2. Exercise🤩. I will personally say this was the hardest to do, because I had no energy! However, in a month I realized how much more energy I had from exercising and just how much I felt better. Scientifically speaking your body releases “happy” endorphins that trigger a positive feeling🤓. This is also a great way to take your mind off things and reduce stress💆🏻‍♀️.⁣

3. Challenge negative thoughts! How many times do you say to yourself “there’s nothing I can do about it.” “Why should I even try it’s hopeless.” These thoughts will eventually overwhelm you and it’s so hard to realize this is a symptom of depression known as cognitive distortions. This is difficult as a lot of people don’t even know they are thinking these things. A way to help is to start EVERY morning writing 3 things you are a grateful for. Start looking at the positive in your life and not just the negative. ⁣

If we want to change how women feel about their body’s, we need to stand TOGETHER ⠀

Lately, I’ve been seeing many people say that body positivity is only for those in “larger bodies” (not sure where the line is drawn between thin and large...) and critiquing anyone deemed “thin” for speaking about it⠀

and I’m tired of it. #justbeinghonest⠀

Yes, thin privilege exists and I realize I am a thin person but I have seen women of ALL sizes hate their body’s. ⠀

❌ I have seen women of all sizes starve themselves in hopes that they will shrink enough to feel loved.⠀

❌ I have seen women of all sizes cry in the dressing room when their usual size available wouldn’t fit. ⠀
⠀
❌ I have seen women of all sizes stay out of the pool because they couldn’t stand the thought of being seen in a bathing suit. ⠀

❌ I’ve seen women of all sizes squeeze into shape wear because they felt they had to have the flattest stomach to wear the dress. ⠀

We are in this together ⠀

I used to believe I HAD to go to the gym to see results. That I couldn’t get the same results from home. .
I used to KILL my muscles to the point where they never had the chance to grow/heal properly. .
I found myself STUCK at multiple times in my gym experience. .
Stuck between no direction & knowledge as to why I was at that point. .
But NOW I KNOW! NOW I KNOW WHERE, WHY & WHEN TO GO!

🦋 What being 2 months free of fake boobies taught me:
.
👉🏻 I am a hell of a lot stronger than I’ve ever given myself credit for. This body is a gift and I am forever thankful for the one I was given.
.
👉🏻 22 year old Jess did what she did out of fear. Fear of never being enough, fear of never truly loving her body until XYZ happened. She was insecure but masking it with fake confidence.
.
👉🏻 Being with Mike the last three years taught me a lot about myself. I credit him for things I’ve realized, the voice I found within myself and the unwavering faith I have in who I am and what I am capable of.
.
👉🏻 No size or number will EVER define me again. I will never wish my body looked like another woman’s or feel like a surgery or cosmetic enhancement would make me better. I have full confidence in ME and who I am naturally. I will never wish to change that again.
.
👉🏻 None of the symptoms or unexpected ailments were in my head. I wasn’t crazy. Two months without saline implants and almost, if not all, of my symptoms are gone. I can breath again. I can hug people without feeling blocked. My eyes are bright, my skin feels less dull. My migraines have almost disappeared and my stomach issues have chilled majorly.
.
👉🏻 I have no shame in what I did in 2016. I made a choice that I felt was right and I learned the hardest, but most beautiful lesson of all:

...you are enough NOW.

And that’s my message for you. You are worthy of everything you want and desire as you right now. No weight loss, surgical procedure or body-altering decision will suddenly make you worthy. You already are.

All in all, I’m thankful I was transparent about this journey and I am grateful that I decided to put my health first. I will never take it for granted again.
