Naturally, we use social media and our phones for all kinds of things. Seeing picturea of family, send group messages - it's really useful. Super useful. When I was in school, at the last bell on Friday, I would speak to my friend quickly to confirm we were playing pool the next day at 11am in the town centre.
That would be the end of the arranging to play pool.
Can you imagine that? No WhatsApp or SMS to confirm if you were still going or not. No Google Maps location sent. We just remembered, and took the bus there. We didn't even own phones to take out with us then. If one was late, we'd just stay at the waiting spot until the other one turned up.
BUT, times have changed. It's 2019 now and our phones are capable of incredible feats. I can read a book, play music, play games, watch videos, send messages, take pictures and videos, all on one sleek device. Gosh, anyone remember those shitty disposable cameras back in the day?!
So let's think hard. We have phones, which we use a lot. There's so much potential in how we can use these to better ourselves psychologically.
Here's some tips to how we can make our phones so much more effective and powerful, rather than an endless distraction.
Follow more accounts that make you think and inspire you to improve
Block/ignore/mute any kind of thing /person which you feel doesn't help you
Download some 3 minute motivational speeches and play it through the day
Make a photo album of your most memorable achievements that inspire you to keep going
Aim to have more photos to put in that album
Schedule your game time and be disciplined with it
Download some meditation apps to teach you how to breathe and organise your thoughts
Get an Auduobook of an inspiring book taht you can listen to
Get a good to-do list app so you can plan your day accordingly and feel the pride as you tick things off one by one ️
