All of which is still being researched with no definitive answer yet! However, there are some clear associations out there!

My partner craved something less heavy and more carb focused with less calories than me.
I craved something nutrient and calorie dense.
But broken down they are the same foods but adapted to suit our needs and cravings!

The past week or so I've done really well to stay on track I think! I had a treat day on Sunday, had an Easter egg and still managed to not overdo it and still have a calorie deficit. Go me 🙌😂⁣

@spicentice meal kits are absolutely amazing I’ve been using them for over a month now and they’ve really helped on my journey, they have so many kits available ranging from Indian food to Turkish to Chinese and they’re all low calorie and less than 1 syn. It’s basically a takeaway without the grease and all the calories *SAF20 saves u 20% on all orders*

For the majority of my fitness journey (8 years) I've done very minimal straight cardio. I've always played basketball as my main form of cardiovascular activity. 🏀

I just started adding some cardio in last year when I was prepping for my first men's physique competition. And am doing some at the moment in my current routine, as I try to beat last years physique. 😏 .
.
But several of my clients have lost substantial amounts of weight (20, 30, 50+ lbs) without doing 1 cardio session. 👊
.
.
And I mention that because many people genuinely think they NEED cardio to lose weight or body fat. .
.
But that couldn't be further from the truth. .
.
And if there's one thing I'd LOVE to do here, it's help someone avoid doing boring, unwanted cardio if they don't have to. 😂
.
.
Or if they simply don't have time to. (that 💩 is time consuming!)
.
.
Can doing cardio help you lose weight? Yea, for sure. .
.
It can help burn extra calories and create a calorie deficit to ultimately lose weight/body fat. .
.
However, it's definitely NOT required to do so. With proper nutrition and a well planned out strength training program, you can lose plenty of weight / body fat. .
.
Rather than trying to create a calorie deficit by doing hours of cardio each week, it's much simpler to create that deficit through a proven and sustainable nutrition schedule. .

The thing is though - when it comes to body composition, no matter what process you choose and how you execute it, any change which occurs is the result of science (thermodynamics). Whilst we cannot change the course of science, we can change our emotions to influence the scientific process. The feelings we get which result in turning to excess food for comfort can be eradicated by choice. We can literally choose to do this. We control our emotions, they do not control us. We need to be stronger. -

Take eating a cookie or a moderate amount of ice cream for example. In your head you might tell yourself that eating a cookie or ice cream is bad (but you love them). Now that you’re already bad, why not eat 4 cookies, or a whole tub of ice cream? The reality is though, that this particular cookie is 240 calories and this moderate amount of ice cream is 150. What does that mean for your fitness goal? You tell me. But I estimate that it could absolutely fit into your diet, regardless of your goal.

Eating this cookie/ice cream is one tiny episode in your life. It’s a small part of your overall lifestyle which defines your goal. Your execution of energy balance, nutrients absorbed, bodily function is science. So is the effect of 240 calories or 960. 150 calories or 1000. You literally make these choices. Be objective.

Not exactly a meal but definitely a treat. This zesty cabbage recipe is actually a traditional Salvadorian slaw known as (Curtido)that is paired with Pupusas. It is similar to Kimchi and carries the same benefits if you decide to ferment it. The bacteria that contribute to the fermentation process are associated with many health benefits. During fermentation, the bacteria synthesize vitamin and minerals in addition to helpful enzymes. The longer you ferment, the tastier it is! I love to add this cabbage slaw to tacos and even eggs. -

Always wanted to make purple cauliflower, so I went to whole foods and bought purple cauliflower. Quick 3 min steam till fork tender, little salt and pepper we're good to go. 4 oz of my classic grilled chicken, 6 oz of overcooked microwave sweet potatoes (I'll never do that again). I also bought some @rightrice which is a rice alternative made up of chick peas, quinoa, and lentils. Cooks really quick despite the what the packaging says, it was done in almost 3 mins along side the cauliflower. Unlike traditional rice, remember to constantly stir it so it doesn't stick and it comes out awesome. Equal parts water to rice, definitely a must try!

My preferred method for eating is moderation. I don’t like diets that restrict certain foods because for me personally I can’t sustain it. I like bread. I like a sweet treat. I like food in general. Tracking my food is something that I can do long term. And THAT is my goal. My breakfast and lunch were both filled with lean protein, fruits and veggies which left me with some wiggle room at dinner to have a potato roll and fries. 😋#caloriecounting #caloriedeficit #weightloss #weightlossideas #losingtheweight

Hello lovely people. 
So this account is hopefully anonymous for many reasons but mainly because this is for me above anyone else. I want to lose weight for me and I think Instagram is a great way of staying accountable since I won't be going to a group or anything. 
Little bit of background... I have been trying to lose weight unsuccessfully for many, many years and I'm hopeful that this is the time that something clicks. 
I have previously tried weight watchers, slimming world and calorie counting. Of those I found a combination of slimming world and calorie counting to suit me best, I need the calorie counting because I am terrible with portion control and understanding that free food does not mean that I can eat 4 times as much pasta as I normally would! 😂

I am a full time working mum (a 2 year old at home) who works weekends so meals are sometimes whatever can be prepared beforehand. I am attempting to become a pro at batch cooking... Time will tell if I will actually get organised enough to do this!

I'll be exercising as well as changing my eating habits and will be aiming to do at least 10,000 steps a day and gym 3 times a week. 
I'll be using myfitnesspal to track. Feel free to add me as a friend. My username there is freetobeslim and I'll be keeping my diary open and making myself fully transparent. There will be bad days, but there will be many more good days overall!

Leafy greens have the highest nutrients and can prevent and heal so many health ailments. If you don’t like eating salads this is by far the best way to get them in.

Jumped on the scales this morning and somehow had gone up despite working so hard. I could see this as a chance to fall off the wagon,  and have a binge.  Eating all the candy and pizza I can get my hands on.. But no. 
Going to get my butt to the gym again tonight and trust that with time it will start to shift in the right direction. Can't expect everything to work overnight even though that would be nice 😂. So I'm making today a good day,  and so should you.

REVIEW - I followed the instructions, rinsed & pan method. Would I eat it again? Yes - but I think this has the same effect as cauli-rice... personally, I’m not thrilled with it as is. I think just as I mix cauli-rice and reg rice to obtain a larger portion and better mouth feel, this would also benefit from a mix with reg pasta as well!
I ate all of it so it couldn’t have been that bad right? It’s definitely worth playing with to get a bigger pasta serving!

I've been trying to eat more fresh food and less frozen, but sometimes it's just too time-consuming. Or in today's case, fish and chips just sounded super good. I pay close attention to portion sizes, measure and weigh absolutely everything, and try to pick the best nutritional option for whatever I want. 〰️ Truth: I'm way too busy to make healthy treats for myself but, it's one of my favorite things. It's important to make time for yourself, so in order to make things last, I love looking for freezer friendly recipes. I can make this loaf freeze it and take it out the night before for the next day when I want to enjoy. This recipe is fairly simple, and only involves one bowl! ⠀

Recipe: ⤵️ ⠀

✨Ingredients: ⠀
⠀
2 batches flax egg (2 Tbsp (14 g) flaxseed meal + 5 Tbsp water (75 ml) ⠀
1/4 cup applesauce ⠀
1/4 cup maple syrup ⠀
1/3 cup coconut sugar⠀
 1/2 tsp baking soda ⠀
1 tsp baking powder⠀
1/4 tsp sea salt⠀
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder⠀
1/4 cup melted coconut oil ⠀
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk⠀
1 cup grated zucchini (squeezed dry and lightly packed in measuring cup)⠀
3/4 cup gluten-free flour blend⠀
1/3 cup gluten-free oat flour (finely ground rolled oats)⠀
1/3 cup almond flour ⠀
1/3 cup dairy-free semisweet chocolate chips (I like Enjoy Life brand)⠀

✨Instructions: ⠀
⠀
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 C) and line a standard 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper⠀
⠀
In a large mixing bowl, prepare flax eggs and let rest for 5 minutes. ⠀
⠀
Then add applesauce, maple syrup, coconut sugar, baking soda, baking powder, sea salt, and cocoa powder, and whisk. ⠀
⠀
Next add the melted coconut oil and almond milk and whisk to combine. ⠀
⠀
Add grated zucchini stir. ⠀
⠀
Add gluten-free flour, oat flour, and almond flour and whisk until just combined. ⠀
⠀
⠀
Lastly, stir in chocolate chips. transfer batter to the loaf pan and top with a few more chocolate chips ⠀
⠀
Bake 45 minutes - 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes in the pan. ⠀

Will keep covered at room temperature for 3-4 days or in the freezer up to 1 month. ⠀

🤯For so long, I focused on the wrong thing. I wasn’t tuned into my diet, I was doing boatloads of cardio, not lifting weights, drinking skinny teas and taking fat burners. If it said “lose weight fast”, I probably tried it!⠀

🖐🏼Fast forward five years... and lots of mistakes later, I created this little pyramid for you guys so you know what to focus on when you are trying to tone up and lose fat.⠀

⚠️Here’s the golden pyramid of fat loss for you guys! ⠀
1️⃣Calorie Deficit: Eating less calories than your body needs is the only way to lose fat!⠀
2️⃣Eat Enough Protein: to maintain muscle mass, to recover from workouts, to keep you full and satiated when you’re dieting and so you get toned aka you don’t turn “skinny fat”⠀
3️⃣Lift Weights: 2-5x a week! (usually 3-4 is a sweet spot for most people) don’t be afraid to go heavy, it WON’T make you bulky unless you eat too many calories⠀
4️⃣Sleep: 7-9 hours a night to recover, rest and keep your hunger levels in check. when you don’t sleep enough, your body will be hungrier. so get those Zzzs!⠀
5️⃣Cardio, Movement, and 10k steps/day. Finding active hobbies you enjoy will keep you consistent and make it a lot more fun.⠀

I got a question from another coach recently about a client who was on a 1400 calorie meal plan and not losing weight.

The coach switched them to an intermittent fasting plan, at the same 1400 cals, and lo and behold they started losing weight.

How can I explain this?

The biggest thing I would look to for this is an increase in compliance. I've said many times that IF is such a great weightloss strategy because it helps eliminate the things that suck about dieting and because of that its easier to really (like for real really) follow your plan.

If you're struggling to lose weight or stay consistent I HIGHLY recommend trying IF.

♀this transformation tuesday picture was getting so much love on my ig stories i decided i’d go ahead and post! 3 years ago i stepped on the scale and saw i was 220lbs... i weighed more than my husband! it was a reality check. one of the first things i did was cut out soda and juice! they’re basically blank calories and usually make me bloat or break out anyway! i’m not perfect so i do occasionally slip up on sweets & i’m just now trying to get on a regular workout routine, but that’s ok! i really want to post more about my weightjourney and how i gained my confidence back after having 3 kids! if i just help one other person that’d be amazing and it will hold me accountable!! .
