Body part splits are one of the common workout routines. They allow complete focus on muscle groups and are sometimes called bro splits. Each workout usually contains 1-2 body parts. Unlike full body workouts, there’s a mix of both multi- and single-joint movements.

With this type of split, body part training frequency tends to be lower than full body workouts. Most body part splits only hit each muscle group once per week. You will get some overlap on muscle groups because you can’t isolate some muscles.

For example, when you work your back, chest, and shoulders, you also hit your arms. When you hit chest and back, you also work your delts. Because of this, some muscle groups are technically worked multiple times per week. -
The schedule of these splits vary anywhere from 3-6 days per week. You will want to arrange the muscles with the least amount of overlap to be fresh for each workout. For example, you don’t want to work triceps the day before a chest workout or hit biceps before a back day. -
Body part splits maximize volume and metabolic stress within the workout, both of which are important mechanisms for muscle growth. The only problem is, body part splits typically work a muscle once per week. -

Since I try to be active and make fitness more of a priority in my life, one of my main concerns when starting to cut out animal products was whether I was going to get enough protein to sustain my muscles. My worries, however, were completely unwarranted! Vegan protein is so simple to include in your diet, and in fact I feel like I've built more muscle on a plant-based diet than when I was eating meat! I can finally see a change around my mid-section! 
My favourite way to get plant-power-protein is through beans and legumes. They are so versatile - you can mash them, fry them, sautee them, put them in salads or stews or make bean burgers! They come in so many different shapes, sizes and colours and can be a wonderful addition to your next veggie platter!💚 So make sure you include them in your diet!

Woohoo, it's Saturday and I just love the mornings without an alarm 🥰 Looking forward to a warm and sunny early spring weekend! ☀️🌷 For my late breakfast today I made these delicious HIGH-PROTEIN-CHOCO PANCAKES 😊

1 serving is 438 cals (incl. all the toppings), 35.6% carbs, 12.8% fat and 42.7% protein!
.
For 2 servings sift 50 grams chocolate protein powder, 60 grams spelt flour, 5 grams baking powder and 10 grams of unsweetened cocoa powder in a bowl and mix. The sifting is important to get the pancakes extra fluffy. Then mix in 1 large egg and 130 grams unsweetened almond milk and let that sit for about 10 mins. Heat a saucepan over medium heat. In a small bowl, add 5 grams of fluid coconut oil. Once pan is hot, dip a silicone brush in the bowl with pil and spread a light layer of half of the oil in the pan. Then bake 3 pancakes over medium heat. A few mins will do on each side. Repeat for the second serving. Once pancakes are done spread 180 grams of fat-reduced greek yogurt or quark on all 6 pancakes. Add 60 grams of strawberries, 70 grams of raspberries, 40 grams of blueberries, then sprinkle with 3 teaspoons of the homemade @mypeakchallenge High Protein Granola and top off with 2 teaspoons of almond butter.

In this day and age of social connectivity via a mobile device it’s harder and harder to switch off from the world which means it’s harder to sleep so here are my tips passed down to me which I’ll pass to you 📱 turn your phone off place it upside down or leave it in another room to avoid temptation 📖 read at least one chapter per evening you’ll feel sleepy in no time 🚿 have a warm shower or bath before bed, the warm water will raise you body temperature when you get out of the shower you body temp will start to lower which tells your body it’s time to sleep 
There is also a method used by some to help clear the mind to switch wherein you lay in bed take a few deep breaths in and out and repeat the word sleep in your head! Before long you will be fast asleep

So I’m finally back to training in Sydney and all I wanted to do was lift the heaviest weights possible 😆 See if the strength was still there! Some lifts I maintained better then others while away due to the equipment I could use. Unfortunately hip thrusts was something I haven’t done for 2 weeks & my strength wasn’t at my best today. Hopefully I can pick it back up fairly quickly! Next week might be rather scary checking condition after 12 days of holidays and no macro tracking 🙈 But the truth is I wasn’t going to not fully enjoy a once in a lifetime holiday with my husband. There is competition prep and being an athlete but it shouldn’t rule your life! No regrets just going to work my arse off to get in the best shape possible for October shows 😅💪🏼

For me #19point5 was the hardest of the open workouts! I was wasted after 33! Finished the round of 33 and 27 and 8 more thrusters. I’m not gonna say I’m not proud of myself though because I am super proud of myself! I was cycling those chest to bar in rounds of 5 which is a big deal for me! The thrusters are what killed me! Also lots of resting in between sets to get my heart rate down. Yes I hit my back today and I hit it hard .  I planned to rest today but needed the workout.  My back recovers like no other so I'll work it over others...and at the end of my workout I played around on the cables with my friend and just really enjoyed the time. .

💪I've never had the best flexibility. It's gotten worse over the years. I have had my lower spine fused when I was younger, but lack of regular stretching and just not doing much hasn't helped. Time to build up the muscle and strengthen my body so I can give my body it's best chance of not stiffening up later in life. If I get the chance to be a mum later, I want to know my body can handle it. Adding stretches to my routine. Sometimes you just need a little help getting there. #nevergiveup💪

Not taking many full body pics of my progress these days.  I have lost more weight than I initially wanted to. I am not comfortable in my small frame now. Not complaining, it's just this is all new to me and hard to adjust.  Recovering from 2 major surgeries in just 8 months has been so hard physically and mentally.  But learning to love my body at any size has been the toughest lesson to learn. I have to remind myself that i have lost 114 pounds since the picture on the left, and that's a major accomplishment. 
But most importantly, i have to let my body heal and build my strength (and appetite) back.  Hoping I can work out all the kinks soon.

Tonight's post arm day dinner! 🍽️🍋

Garlic Lemon Pepper White Salmon and Riced Cauliflower and Sweet Potato 🍋🐟🍠
Recipe:
▫️1 cup riced cauliflower sweet potato 🍠 mix (see my last post for the package)
▫️1 tsp virgin olive oil (for rice)
▫️1 4-5oz salmon filet 🐟
▫️Another 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil (for fish)
▫️About 1/3 of a lemon 🍋 (one slice for on top and rest to be squeezed on top of salmon and dish at the end)
▫️Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and parsley to taste 🧂

Directions:
1️⃣ Put 1 tsp olive oil in pan on the stove, heat the pan on medium, then add the frozen cauliflower rice sweet potato mix and stir to coat in the olive oil. Then cover and let it steam.
2️⃣ Preheat oven to 350. Cover a baking sheet with tin foil (makes for easy clean up). Place fish scale side down and use other tsp of olive oil to cover top of fish. Season with salt, pepper, garlic and parsley. Squeeze some lemon on and place the slice on top.
3️⃣ Stir rice and season with salt and pepper to taste. Replace cover.
4️⃣ When oven is preheated, put fish on middle rack and cook for about 20 minutes or until fish is flaking.
5️⃣ While fish is cooking, check on rice, you may need to add a little water if it begins to dry out before cooking fully so that it can continue to steam. Cook until sweet potato is soft (I didn't time it so just keep checking). 6️⃣ When everything is done squeeze a little extra lemon on top of everything and enjoy! .

Should You Carb Cycle?

Essentially, carb cycling is a method that can be used to enhance results both for fat loss and muscle gain. However, it is like the cherry on top and not realistic unless you’re current circumstances fit certain criteria.
⠀
For the majority of people, especially beginners, I recommend sticking to the basics and making sure you are firstly, moving more, and secondly, eating healthier.
⠀
If you have experience tracking macros, have a healthy relationship with food and want to experiment with carb cycling, by all means do so. It’s not magic and you can certainly get great results without carb cycling.
⠀
On the contrary, if you don’t have a healthy relationship with food or no/little experience with tracking your macros, then I do not recommend this. Get good with the basics and then aim to implement advanced methods like carb cycling.

My earlier post was focusing on your mindset ( the most important thing for you to get right)

But when it comes to your physical health and getting physically stronger you're training form is super important.

The deadlift is officially my favourite exercise I don't care what variation it is I love them all!

But they are one of those exercises that if you don't get your phone right you can really screw yourself over, this post by @nattyknowledge is showing you a super simple form fix.

Next time you're deadlifting double check where you are looking make sure you are staying neutral friends.

Where should you look during your deadlifts?

As you should in all exercises, your neck should be in a neutral position. This reduces strain in your neck and keeps equal pressure on your spinal cord.

As much as you want to check yourself out in the mirror, don't look up. This will squeeze the spinal cord and cause your hips to drop to relieve that pressure.

Looking down is also bad. It will relax your upper back and cause it to round.

Specialization training can be a great tool to bring up your
lagging body parts, but many people take the wrong approach
when doing so.
They think that they have to train that body part every single
day, and act like no other body parts matter, and doing that will
only push you further away from the body you want.

First off, when doing specialization training, you don't want to
train your lagging body part every day. If you do that, it'll never
get a chance to recover, and won't get a chance to grow.
Training it 3-4x/week will suffice.
_
Also, you should still train your other body parts for
maintenance. IF you simply just stop training them, you're
gonna start losing any muscle you grew before. Try to at least
train your other body parts once a week, but twice a week
would be more optimal to maintain muscle size. -
Here's a good schedule to go by:
Monday: Lagging Body Part
Tuesday: Maintenance Workout
Wednesday: REST
Thursday: Lagging Body Part
Friday: Maintenance Workout
Saturday: Lagging Body Part
Sunday: REST

Many-a-folk mistakenly think it’s all about “losing weight.” That, in turn, leads to crash dieting, excessive cardio to burn as many calories as possible, and often performing specific exercises to “firm up” their problem areas...

In truth, toning has little to do with losing weight — it’s all about losing FAT to reveal the muscle underneath! 💪✅

And the absolute best way to lose fat & build muscle is to consistently eat in a calorie deficit & lift weights.

(For your deficit, I’d aim to lose .5-1% of your body weight per week, which for most people comes out to ~1-2 pounds.)

Now, none of this mean you can’t do cardio or juice your veggies...

If you enjoy doing those things, keep doing you!

Eat in a moderate calorie deficit. 2. Eat enough protein and lots of whole foods. 2. Lift weights to build strength & muscle. ⠀ Alright, that’s it! See ya later 🐊 ️... ⠀ Hehe just joshin’ ya ⠀ Jokes aside, the truth is that getting a toned body is simple. 1️⃣ Deeeeeep lunges 💙
2️⃣ Angled push ups with a little jump 💙
3️⃣ Seated squats with a pause in the middle 💙
4️⃣ Working the ABs with some in & outs 💙
5️⃣ Tricep dips 💙
6️⃣ Step Ups 💙
