My wife and I took a walk last week during the bomb cyclone in Denver. Just like Brandi Carlile sings that you can dance in a hurricane if you're standing in the eye, I guess you can walk the neighborhood in a bomb cyclone if you're near a lake full of alcoholic geese.
At least they look like alcoholic geese to me. Check out their one and only defense mechanism - hide their heads in their wings. No where to find protection from the storm, they just burry their shame and hope the threat goes away.
It works for geese about as well as it works for high-functioning alcoholics who believe just because their neighbors can't see their pain and debilitating struggle, they must be fine.
I was a high-functioning alcoholic for ten years, and nobody knew how much trouble I was in besides my wife and very close family. When I finally decided to stop drinking, traditional forms of recovery were not an option for me. So I struggled and relapsed and worked and read and tried and pieced together a new plan for recovery.
Now I want to share that recovery with you. Are you interested? Do you want to get sober, but AA and inpatient rehab aren't working for you? Why not read my ebook, Guide to Early Recovery. I want you to have it for free. No stings attached - we are all in this together. Link to my free download in my profile.
