The ‘58’ish headstock is an accurate recreation of one of the most obscure Gibson designs of all time. It was only used on 2 -3 known Explorers in 1958. Rick Derringer owned one of them, and the other one or two are unknown to me. The oddest thing about it is that the number two and number five strings actually bear against the two front posts. It took all my will to not attempt to “fix” the design, but I stayed the course just to see if was truly as dysfunctional as it appears. It actually works great despite its awkwardness, and it does have a unique vibe to it. I would definitely use it, or some equally strange derivative, again on other builds. #guitarporn#flyingv#korina#v16#v16guitars#boutiqueguitars#boutiqueguitar#customguitars#customguitar#luthier#luthiery#gibsonflyingv - 1 day ago
