As I’m been chatting up Hot Hands for Hire this past week, a few friends on my Facebook have been a little confused. Romance? You write romance? 😳
Yes, yes, and yes! I don’t write romance exclusively, but it’s definitely what I write the most and I love it. I unapologetically love writing and reading it. Honestly, I don’t think people have a right to be giving me weird looks unless they do their research and look beyond the covers with the shirtless men with chiseled abs (although I absolutely love those books too, and there’s no problem with shirtless men on book covers 😘).
Here are three reasons to love romance:
💜 There’s always a happy ending! If there isn’t a happy ending, you are likely not reading a romance. In true romance, there is always a “happily ever after.”
💜 There are a TON of sub-genres; you’ll likely find something you love even if you aren’t familiar with romance! Action thriller (@authoralanaalbertson ), sci-fi romance, romantic comedy, YA—just to name a few!
💜 Romance is increasingly become a more diverse genre. For example, one of the last books I read, The Bride Test by @hhoangwrites , features a heroine who is a Vietnamese immigrant. There is still plenty of room for romance to grow in this area, but the genre still has SO much to offer.
