It’s a grey and dreary day ☔️ here in London Town so the perfect time for a warming and nourishing breakfast of a buckwheat porridge 🥣 . .
I soaked the groats overnight in order to release all the digestive upsetting phytic acid/enzyme inhibitors. Then cooked with coconut 🥥 milk, cinnamon and vanilla. I then topped with cancer fighting black currants, along with raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, hemp hearts (omega 3) & two tablespoons of flaxseed —also powerful #anticancer agents. 🙌🏽 All that was missing was a 🍌 for sweetness so topped up after with that too! .

Although research is still underway, researchers hold the view that CBD can be a promising therapeutic aid for osteoporosis.
Here are some of the things that scientists have established so far: 👊🏻 • Cannabinoid receptors are present in the bone cells. These are CB1, CB2, and orphan receptor GPR55. Studies show that endocannabinoids and these receptors play a role in osteoporosis development. 😌 • Researchers suppressed the resorption of bones by blocking these receptors in adult mice. The effect was increased bone mass and protection of the mice against further bone loss. Overall, exercise therapy that is tailored to the individual person can directly improve functional capacity and quality of life in those that suffer from Parkinson’s disease.

What dietary changes should I make to help my skin? To help my joints? Which supplements should I take? These are extremely common question in my clinics. I base my answer simply on evidence and what will make the most difference to your skin and bone health.
Eating a balanced diet with loads of fruit and veg, and variety of protein and calcium reduces the need for any supplements.
Study in Lancet demonstrated that Vitamins and minerals taken within food are more effectively absorbed than supplements.
The two particular elements I would  most recommend , through diet or supplements are: 
1. omega 3- proven in bone health plus reduces skin dryness, sun spots/UV skin damage, helps in treatment of acne, eczema, psoriasis

🍂Benefits of Skipping PART 1🍂 🌿I have had a hard time incorporating exercise into my daily routine, because like most of us I work 5-6 days a week. When I am off for the day .... evening hours set in...and I want to relax, spend time with family, and eat. 🌿On the weekends I go for walks in nature. But I need cardio for the weekdays. 🌿Skipping has been an amazing solution for me. I started skipping 20 minutes every other day so far. In 10 days I have noticed a huge improvement! Lack of sleep? Something that I often struggle with. After a night out this weekend and sleeping in an unfamiliar place, Sunday is the perfect day to have a rest day at home. Started making my own calcium powder using eggshells from the organic free range eggs I eat every day using my Instant Pot and an air fryer. You pay the extra money, might as well use every part of the egg instead of throwing it away. Plus, you save on buying calcium pills that have other unwanted ingredients in them. @mamanatural has a super easy way to make your own here if you don’t have an Instant Pot or air fryer. .

🥚I rinse the egg shells each morning when I make my eggs, being careful not to wash away the membranes, and just stick them back in the container.
~
🥚When the eggs are all eaten, I put the shells in a steam basket and steam them for 8 minutes in the Instant Pot and immediately release the pressure and let them cool enough to handle.
~
🥚I place the shells into the air fryer separating them as much as possible and set it to the lowest setting (180 for mine) for 10-11 minutes. Any longer and they start flying all over the air fryer🌪 🌪
~
🥚Put them in a @thenutribullet using the grinder attachment for about a minute until it’s a fine powder.
~
🥚Stick it in a mason jar or other air tight container.

I take 1/2 tsp in the a.m. in my liquid vitamins and another 1/2 tsp at night with my shot of potato starch. I get about 3.5-4 oz of powder from 18 eggshells.

Note: It does NOT mix with coffee like collagen powder. 👎🏼 You just gotta down it with liquid.

Really craving some spring weather & sunshine! During the winter months October-April in places like New England we don’t get the same amount of sunlight or same kind of sunlight. This causes our Vitamin D intake to decrease, especially if you don’t consume vitamin D rich foods such as fatty fish. Vitamin D actually acts more like a hormone than it does a fat-soluble vitamin. I supplement with vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) which is the active form of vitamin D, year round. I take 2000 IU even though the RDA is around 400 IU. Functions of Vitamin D include:

Maximal strength output. The reason I load up on vitamin D is because studies have shown that by having adequate amounts, well over the RDA of vitamin D in athletes (2000IU-4000IU), it can improve strength/power in type 2 muscle fibers up to 40%. Bone health. You need vitamin D in order to absorb calcium. Ladies, our bone density peaks around 25 and then it’s slowly decreases. Osteoporosis is inevitable but making sure you are getting enough vitamin D everyday can only help. Vitamin D helps improve the re-building of structure (strong bones). It also helps to improve coordination so you’ll be less clumsy and less likely to break a bone!

Immunity is another big one. Vitamin D receptors are found all over the body, including immune cells. Kind of makes sense right? Less sunlight during winter, less vitamin D present in your body, more likely to get sick! Much more evidence for vitamin D and zinc improving immunity than Vitamin C. Did you know that’s low key a myth that Vitamin C improves your immunity?

Cognitive function. Those with low levels of vitamin D are more likely to develop diseases like Alzheimer’s & dementia. My grandmother has dementia and I don’t wish that for anyone, including myself.

I have been consistently supplementing with it since last spring. My strength was definitely noticeably different when I started taking it. 10/10 recommend if you are going to spend your hard earned money on supplements, this one is fairly inexpensive and totally worth it.
