Last night I experienced something magical. 25 women came together nervous as hell to participate in @rosie.rees nude yoga workshop. Now some of you reading this will be thinking "omg yuck I would never do that" and that's what I used to think too.

It was so much more than just yoga in the nud. It was the most supportive womens circle I've ever been in.

We had to go around the circle and explain our relationship with our body and our breasts and say our intention for coming there. There were so many heartbreaking stories of body image issues, abuse, near death experiences, ex partners telling her to wear her bra during sex because her breasts weren't his idea of perfect etc. It was such a shock to see how many women are dealing with their own body image issues.

We undressed out of our robes and participated in learning about how our heart is connected to our breasts and learnt to how to massage them properly and start loving them. 
There was nothing sexual about this entire workshop it was sensual and loving your body. 
After some yoga we then had to do something I'll never forget, we had to maintain eye contact with a complete stranger for 3 minutes while standing completely nude. It was the most vulnerable experience I have ever had. A lady I have never met could see all of me for a few minutes. 
I came home on an absolute high, I have never felt so empowered, so liberated and finally so free. I left all my body image issues at the class for good. My history of bulimia, obsessive exercise disorder, hating my tummy, wishing my breasts were larger. All of it. I shed the "crap" I've been telling myself for 29 years and learnt to celebrate my body. 
I highly recommend any of you ladies to do this workshop when it is available next. Rosie Rees goes around Australia with the nude yoga workshops. Honestly the best experience of my life.

I am sure you you guys know how much I love telling the #truth (that’s if you follow and read what I say). So, I decided to post a video on my number 1 weakness. Some days it is really bad, other days it’s ok, and some days I am not faltering.

My topic of my therapy session: self-love. I’m having so many body issues. I’ve lost a huge amount of weight and still find every flaw possible. My goal over the next few weeks is to document, no matter how hard they are to write, every word of inadequacy I tell myself along with my location and what I’m doing. I wish I had enough self confidence to wear a bikini this summer, so that’s what I’m working toWards. Sometimes you can’t always see the difference... but you can sure as hell feel that glow change inside of you✨ .

I’m almost done this mini mini cut @t_zone_fitness & I are doing for @agushue77 & I trip to Mexico 🇲🇽 .

Being where I am now, how I am feeling in my skin, in my body and with my mentality...

I’m surprised with how comfortable I am, how happy I am and how confident I feel. 🤭☺️

I am so self conscious when it comes down to it 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I don’t always feel good about my progress. I’m really really hard on myself.. no joke just ask those close to me. I never think what I’m doing, how hard I’m working is enough 🤷🏻‍♀️😶

But today, I’m just so happy... 😊 🤗 .
I’m so comfortable in my skin and owning who I am this past little while, that the things that used to haunt & taunt me....

All the negative self talk. .
All the times I would compare myself to other girls. .

Everything I used to nit pick at on my body.. .

I don’t feel that anymore 🤗 ✨ 
I just feel that glow ✨ 🌟 .

I love who I’ve been growing into it, physically and mentally 🙏🏼 .

I feel this little cut has helped me see, not only the beauty I have within myself.

But it’s whipped away any sort of negative filter that I have body image wise of myself! And that is HUGE for me, LIKE HUGE. .

@clara_shipp_fitness spoke today about embracing our insecurities. I have found 2019 has been me doing exactly that. .

One of the most valuable things I’ve learned from seeing a nutritional counselor is that quote:
“it’s just food.”
•
Let it soak in a bit. 
It took me a while to get it and now, I feel free from allowing food to make me feel guilty or defeated.
•
It’s just food.
•
On days when I’m motivated to do so, I make the healthiest choices I can (and want to) for my body. 
On other days, I don’t. And that’s okay.
•
Because.....its just food.

Bring me all the veg and tahini.... (didn’t just demolish a a Pb&J sandwich with fruits, dried mango, chocolate and ice cream...I lied I did and it doesn’t matter and yes I can crave both types of food #pleaseandthankyou) 
My dinner was a huge bowl of plant goodness. First I have a mix of parsnips and Brussel sprouts because they were past the due date 😬 I also made a sautéd mushroom, onion, red pesto/tomato tofu thing with some raw salad too. I dressed it all with some beaut tahini and a dollop of hummus🙌🏼
I’ve honestly never eaten so many fats in my life. I eat more than a portion st almost every meal and I can’t believe I’m at a place where that doesn’t phase me or make me itch and twitch and uncomfortably get anxious with the thought that I’m allowing myself foods with higher calories. Not only are fats and Importsnt macronutrient, they taste HELLA GOOD so I’m so happy that I’m able to eat them more freely :) I havnt posted much today but I just had another green smoothie for breakfast and it’s getting a bit boring to post 😂😂 I hope everyone’s had a fab Friday ❤️

“WE ARE FAMILY”

is the song my kids and I jammed out to this morning on the way to school, those little fun moments with them are my favorite when I’m a silly crazy momma they love me for me and ask me to keep doing it, and laugh with me! Can everyone be a innocent little child please 🙏🏻 GOSHHH i just love them to pieces. Anyone else dance and sing like a crazy momma with there little ones too?

If you are tell me what you do and what’s your favorites tag a friend who does it too I want to hear it all🥰

Remember there always watching👀 I have to remind myself of that often..... I found myself always worrying about my appearance I’ve struggled with body image issues my whole life(still do) I remember when I was in high school I did like 100 or more sit ups after I ate a slice pizza not to mention I used a napkin to get the grease off🤷🏼‍♀️ also I’ve been a Beachbody coach for the last almost 5 years so I’ve sort of consistently worked out and nutrition was mostly good, and If you’ve followed my personal account journey you’d know that, but I’ve hit a plateau and I’m ok with it, i decided to focus more on my small shop and having a happy home, I want to live in the now and enjoy those little moments with my family, if I don’t get a workout in I’m not going to stress about it if I eat pizza I’m going to enjoy it with ranch of course.
Im not really sure why I’m feeling the need to share this with you guys, but I just hope I can encourage any other momma out there who feels this way cause I get you, and your not alone we all have doubts and feel like we’re not doing good enough, I want to be that silly crazy mom who doesn’t care what people think who her kids adore for being that mom all the time, and embrace my body and who I am because before I know it there like peace out mom😭
On another note my birthday is tomorrow DIRTY 30 here I come👩🏼‍🦳🥳

A toddler meal winner 🎉 It’s been on the menu multiple times this week even! Cheese ravioli cut up so he thinks it’s “mac and cheese” per his daily request, fresh strawberries 🍓 steamed carrots 🥕 and Caesar dressing made with Greek yogurt! He dips it ALL in the “sauce” and eats it up. Whatever works ♥️

I binged because I was exhausted. Because I needed a break. Because too much was being asked of me. Because I was asking too much of myself.⁣

There was too much on my shoulders, too much on my plate. And I didn’t know how to lessen all the work, stress, burdens. ⁣
⁣
It seemed to me impossible.⁣
⁣
So, I binged. ⁣
⁣
Somehow it was okay to take a break, to take a breath, if I was eating.⁣
⁣
Sound familiar? ⁣
⁣
If we keep ignoring our bodies’ cry for a break, for help, our bodies’ cry for something to please give, then we will never heal.⁣
⁣
But usually when I bring this up, I hear “But I can’t give anything up.” Sometimes we have a bazillion responsibilities that are all high priority. ⁣
⁣
But this is where the spiritual work comes in. ⁣
⁣
This is where we remember that we don’t have to know the HOW.⁣
⁣
We aren’t responsible for figuring out how to lighten our load.⁣
⁣
That’s the universe’s job. And it always does it’s job.⁣
⁣
It’s our job to be willing and open, to entertain the idea that our lives could be easier.⁣
⁣
Miracles can’t happen if we aren’t open to them.⁣
⁣
So open yourself to the possibility that your life can go smoother. Come up with a mantra that resonates with you and speaks to this.⁣
⁣
And, take a break. Because when you take a break you are not only working to prevent binges, but you are showing the universe that you’ve got faith. You are showing the universe that you know you can take a break, because you don’t really have to effort so hard and do EVERYTHING, the universe has your back, and when you lean on it a little, you’ll start to see that the universe will help you out!

Ever been called something that didn’t really fit, but it became part of your identity anyway?

I have to imagine that’s how these pansies feel. It is the middle of winter and they are still blooming! They should have called them hardies.

This is just a friendly reminder that no matter what anyone calls you or says about you: the only person that decides if it’s true is YOU.

You choose your reality. You form your identity. And you are capable of doing anything and changing everything.

Doing the work to get there isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. In fact, I have struggled with feeling like a “failure” for most of my life.

I recently identified this misbelief and have started to move past it. I choose my destiny. I choose my beliefs. And I choose to be a success.

What do you choose?

So,for as long as I can remember I always felt self aware of how much curvier, heavier and different I looked than my 4 siblings. I remember always looking at my athletic, thinner sisters and wishing I could be that way. Truth be told this was something that was on going up until my early 20's. 
I truly struggled with body image and even self worth at times. As a teenager I was well aware that I was never the skinniest but through it all I tried to laugh it off or even comfort myself with food and even struggled with not eating or worse purging!!! Friends, this is not easy to put out there being that I may be judged... but this was truly an on going struggle for me throughout my life but  this is part of my very own personal journey!! You see, I have always longed to be healthy and fit and never new the how to get there. As a young girl I tried everything under the stars  but with no true mentor on how to do it correctly, I had to constantly fail to find my true path. 
Okay, so let's fast forward and here I am today and I am as healthy as a horse!!! I found my way and I've experienced it all. The beautiful thing about my journey is that I have had to fall on my face(fail forward), try different things and see what truly worked for me....Want to know my ultimate secret!!! It's called good old fashion "Hard Work", putting good whole organic nutrient dense foods into my body so that I can perform and fuel my body with Gods best and love me for exactly who I am yesterday, Today and forever. I'm am perfectly imperfect in Gods eyes!!! He created me in his perfect image and throughout my personal journey I know God has given me the passion and desire and mission to strive to help and inspire other young girls, women, mamas and anyone that may be struggling to love themselves exactly where they are today.

This is why I'm so passionate about helping others. I have found through my PD I have found that my past obstacles are for me and not against me. Its lit a fire in my gut to help others.

Friends, this is not easy to put out there being that I may be judged... but this was truly an on going struggle for me throughout my life but this is part of my very own personal journey!! You see, I have always longed to be healthy and fit and never new the how to get there. As a young girl I tried everything under the stars but with no true mentor on how to do it correctly, I had to constantly fail to find my true path. Okay, so let's fast forward and here I am today and I am as healthy as a horse!!! I found my way and I've experienced it all. The beautiful thing about my journey is that I have had to fall on my face(fail forward), try different things and see what truly worked for me....Want to know my ultimate secret!!! It's called good old fashion "Hard Work", putting good whole organic nutrient dense foods into my body so that I can perform and fuel my body with Gods best and love me for exactly who I am yesterday, Today and forever. I'm am perfectly imperfect in Gods eyes!!! He created me in his perfect image and throughout my personal journey I know God has given me the passion and desire and mission to strive to help and inspire other young girls, women, mamas and anyone that may be struggling to love themselves exactly where they are today. This is why I'm so passionate about helping others. I have found through my PD I have found that my past obstacles are for me and not against me. Its lit a fire in my gut to help others. It’s time to let go.  Time to get rid of things that are no longer serving me. 
It might not seem like such a big deal to throw away some old swimsuits, but these suits have held me hostage for years. 
These are the suits I’ve held onto for when I’m lean enough to wear them again. These are the suits that perpetually remind me of where I once was. These are the suits that signify worthiness and accomplishment. 
These are the suits that have kept me stuck. Stuck in the mindset that my physical appearance and level of leanness determine my worthiness. Stuck in the world of body image obsession. Stuck in the belief that when I reach a certain size, I will finally be happy with myself. 
I have come so far in being comfortable in my own skin. I still have a long way to go, but I’m getting closer every day. Yet just seeing these suits sent me into a downward spiral. They’ve got to go. I am mentally stronger than the size of my swimsuits. I have outgrown them, both physically and emotionally. 
Why do we hang onto things that keep us stuck? Clothes, relationships, jobs, etc? If they no longer serve you, be strong enough to say goodbye. Hanging on to clothes you used to fit into is not motivating, it’s defeating. I think most of us know that in order to grow, we have to stop comparing ourselves to others. What you don’t realize is that comparing yourself to who you used to be is even more damaging. 
It’s time to purge!! What do you need to get rid of that no longer serves you?

How many times do you say negative things about yourself or your body out loud. If you talk to yourself like that, you better believe your kids are going to pick up on that and talk to themselves in the same way. Do you want your daughter to complain about her size or thighs or boobs? I know I don’t. So don’t do it! Out loud or in your head! Be kind to yourselves. Your kids will pick up on your body image issues. So set the example.

Want your kids to follow their dreams? Want them to not settle for mediocrity? When you hate your job, when you go to work everyday working toward someone else’s dreams and are barely making it day to day... is that what you want for your kids?

The best thing we can do for our kids is set the example. Live our best lives so they can live theirs. Your attitude, your self-love, self talk, your dreams and goals, it all matters. They are watching.

Can I be honest? ⁣

When I first started out with my weight loss journey I would start to make pretty good progress. Then some how I would start to notice I would self-sabotage. ⁣
⁣
It was an awful pattern that happened over and over again. Lose 5 lbs than I would gain 7 lbs in a WEEKEND. ⁣
⁣
I remember vividly being absolutely terrified of losing weight and still not being happy. It was in the pit of my stomach. ⁣
⁣
It was ridiculous but it was such an overwhelming feeling that I couldn’t overcome it. It is why I lost 90 lbs and gained back 70 lbs. ⁣
⁣
Finally realizing that the weight wouldn’t cause my happiness, but that happiness could help me lose weight it was as if a light bulb went off. ⁣
⁣
It is why I believe whole heartily that working on ourselves inward is a crucial part of weight loss. Because we can never find happiness in the scale or any magic number to begin being happy. ⁣

I heard that the boobs shrink after breastfeeding too 🤦🏻‍♀️ Oh the changes from pregnancy and breastfeeding. They’ve been hard for me to accept, especially the stomach. I may have lost more than the weight I’ve gained during pregnancy and somewhat have gotten my abs back, but the skin isn’t the same. I’m so thankful my body made such a perfect boy, but I like to keep everything honest, so just wanted to let the mamas out there who struggle accepting the aftermath of pregnancy, that you’re not alone.

Hun, sorry to say but this isn’t really possible! I wish it was as much as the next person. Your body takes care of fat on its own. Each body is different and each person holds fat in a different spot! You can’t think you will lose stomach fat and automatically lose it there!

Yesterday I faked it all day long. I convinced myself I wasn’t tired and tried to put on my positive pants. On the outside I looked okay, on the inside I was a huge grump! It was my Monday and I just wasn’t feeling up to adulting. Today I decided a morning workout was a MUST! I hate faking it. I feel like people can see right through me! Maybe they can, maybe they can’t. Today though, my morning movement changed my mood. I was a better mom, better wife, and have felt better all day long. I could have thrown in the towel for the week, said I will try again next time, but instead I rewrote the script of my week and made a choice. We all get so many choices each day, what are you choosing? 💪🏼♥️ .

Silence is bliss, they say. Today we worked out in silence so that we conquered our minds. While some enjoyed this I keep thinking about how I see my body and the work I still needed to do. Then I hear the voices of friends and family saying how proud they are of me and that my pictures do me no justice because my transformation is so much more dramatic in person. I say all of this because I know I'm not the only woman who struggles with body image issues.  If you are like me, keep fighting sis, others are watching and noticing even when you dont like what you see in the mirror.

I have tummy rolls!!!!! I have been lean enough in the past that my abs showed but did it make me a better person? No! 
The reality is we all have rolls when we sit down, we all have our good and bad angles. You do not need a perfectly flat tummy to be “healthy” 
Learning to love and appreciate your body is hard work and I have always struggled with excepting what I see as flaws. I also forget my body has grown two babies to term and was stretched so big peoples mouths would drop when they saw it. 
I am trying to appreciate my body for all it has done for me and you should try too. So next time you sit down remember this, you are normal, we all have rolls and they are beautiful!

BDD:  Muscle dysmorphia

It is estimated that approximately 45% of Western males have body image issues.  A 2010 Mission Australia survey of Australian male youth aged 12-25 years found that body image was their number 1 concern. Body dissatisfaction even in young boys has been linked to engagement in body change strategies such as dieting & body bulking strategies.

Muscle dysmorphia is a form of body dysmorphic disorder identified in some males with body image anxiety.  This is a significant & distressing condition involving a preoccupation with muscularity & leanness. The condition is centred on a distorted body perception where muscles & body size are perceived to be smaller than they actually are. Often these men are already muscular and lean but are on a relentless pursuit to define their bodies even further, obsessively trying to become more lean, toned &muscular. At times, harmful (eg steroids) & excessive behaviour choices add to the potential long term harm of this disorder.

If you feel that you may have body image issues, you should seek psychological treatment.

BODY DYSMORPHIC DISORDER

Body Dysmorphic disorder is characterised by an preoccupation with one or more perceived defects or flaws in appearance that are not observable or appear slight to others (DSM V). It is considered to be a form of obsessive compulsive disorder.  BDD can be differentiated from the distorted body image which is a defining feature of eating disorders, in that distorted body image involves a preoccupation with overall body mass, whereas BDD involves focusing on a specific part or feature.  The typical age of onset of BDD is ages 12-13, with an average onset of 16-17.

Some symptoms include:

Excessive self-consciousness
Experience persistent and intrusive thoughts about the imagined flaw 
Feeling defined by their flaw. 
Are fearful of being seen as flawed
Frequent checking of appearance 
Attempting to camouflage or alter the perceived defect
Avoidance of public or social situations or triggers that increase distress. They may at times be housebound 
Needless cosmetic and dermatological treatments.
Depression
Isolation

BDD is chronic, but responds favorably to treatment with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy found to be an effective and evidence based method of treatment.  CBT challenges irrational beliefs & perceptions regarding the body feature.

BEAUTIFUL ON THE INSIDE

The gorgeous interior of the Duomo in Milan.  What amazing architects to build such a beautiful and enduring building, enjoyed by millions each year. We are glad that we prebooked tickets for first thing in the morning, as the queue was ridiculously long by 11am.

I wanted to use this image to discuss self esteem and body image in girls, teens and women. 
The media inundates us with many messages about how we should look and behave. These start when girls are very young, and not all of them are healthy messages.  The increasing numbers of sexualised images of girls in the media and on social media suggests to girls that their worth is judged on how they look or their sexual appeal and behaviour.  Further, this sexualisation of girls can affect their psychological development and mental health. It also affects how women and girls are viewed and treated more broadly.

It is important to help girls develop a positive self-image and healthy self-esteem, value themselves and learn to question messages that sexualise or exploit people.
