Acid Rap introduced me to chance at a time when I was just discovering and really listening to rap it really set my taste in music. I can always listen to it all the way through and not get tired of the beats, the messages, and the lyrics. It’s a whole vibe.
Good Ass Intro is a great homage to Kanye’s older mixtape which the sample came from. Which then shifts to the bumpin’ track of Pusha Man which soothingly switches into the Heartwarming almost saddening tone of Cocoa Butter Kisses (Ft. Vic Mensa & Twista) a tale of how his life has changed how he can no longer get those affectionate Cocoa Butter Kisses. It becomes one of the best songs on this album Juice which was accompanied by an amazing and different music video of Chance in his city. As Juice ends it becomes the track that introduced me to Noname Lost really vibes with me especially those opening cords and those amazing singing voices from both Chance and Noname. Next is Everybody’s Something (ft. Saba & BJ The Chicago Kid) this track introduced me to these two was glad to hear them on Coloring Book. Even the interludes are worth mentioning on this album (That’s love) is an amazing track with a good easily repeated beat with the claps and the guitar it is just truly amazing. Then it shifts to one of my Favorite Songs ever a song that started a movement in the rap community Favorite Song (ft. Childish Gambino) it includes an amazing beat, lyrics you can relate to, and two amazing artists. The next track introduced me to Action Bronson, not the best track on the album but I still enjoy it. This next track really makes me love Chance’s ad-libs Smoke Again (ft. Ab-Soul) this just further shows that this was an opening to rap for me because before this track I had never heard Ab-Soul. Acid Rain is another one of my favorites that I can constantly see myself singing even when I haven’t heard the song in a while the lyrics and the humming of the beat really soothes my soul. Chain Smoker is a slowing increasingly hype song the beat slowly speeds up and the verses just match so well. This leads to the last song on the Mixtape Everything’s Good. Thank you Chance for the greatest Mixtape of all-time. - 5 days ago
