Lets get back to basics.. When you talk about Auxerrois you talk about Alsace or Germany or Luxembourg. But how many of you knows the origin, as it was bit unclear to me as well because some says its named after the small town of Auxerre but some also says it is originated from Lorraine.
Auxerrois being a cross of Pinot Noir and Gusaic Blanc and is one of the indegenious grape grown but its often used in blend with Pinot Blanc in Alsace. But in Germany you often found being used as an Accessory grape.
Weingut Heitlinger is one of the estate who produces this indegenious grape as a single varietal.
Estate was founded in 1960 by Albert Heitlinger and after 2010 it has being certified as Organic and a member of VDP in 2012
Situated in the small town of Tiefenbach in Baden and it is one of the warmest region in Germany where vines are mainly grown in richer soils and the wines are more towards full bodied style.
Wine is straw lemon in hue with a good intensity. Nose was full of Yellow Apples, Peaches, Nutty characters. Palate was having a good acidity and a fuller mouth feel with lots of ripe fruits. Finish was soft and fruity.
