I was born in 1971. The same year the first Hard Rock Cafe opened in London.
Smallest, most left out, forgotten and misunderstood generation of our time. (Sorry Millennials)
We rode our Big Wheels relentlessly.
Played outside until the streetlights came on.
Let ourselves into our houses and apartments with latch keys at ages 7 +
Understood what was UP with that crazy game called “Pong”
We thought Disco music was the coolest cuz well, to US it actually was.
And we also grew up on classic rock and 80’s Hair bands.
Perms and big hair were the STUFF.
I LOVE being Gen X.
Wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I missed out on some of the pop culture during my 9 years in the Caribbean, but that’s okay. The important stuff made it down to the Islands
To pay homage to my illustrious, cool as shit, misfit Generation, and in keeping with my new theme of constantly having WAY more fun, (this should be interesting! ) I will be creating a series of humorous anecdotes celebrating all calling out things Gen X.
And you’re welcome. - 3 hours ago
