Have you ever started something that scared you? I don’t mean like a horror movie, but something that you truly wondered if you could do it.
When I was in my late 30s, I started running. Before then, I always said that if I was running, something was probably chasing me. I was not a runner. I did not run. Only one day, I did. I don’t even really remember making any big decision, I just wanted to run one day. And I’m still going.
A little more than a year ago, I completed my first full marathon. When I registered for it, there was NO part of me that thought I could actually do it. When I woke up that morning, there was no part of me that believed it. Even when I crossed the start line, I still didn’t believe I’d ever finish. Only I did.
I tried the scary thing and I won. I finished. I did it. Even when I didn’t believe in myself, I still took the steps and did the thing.
So I want to tell you - don’t be scared to start or to try. Even if you think you can’t or won’t make it, I bet there are people who will be your belief system when you can’t be your own. And when you come out on the other side, you’ll be proud of yourself right along with them!
Go do the thing. And share it with me, because I’m a really good cheerleader (and I have a loud mouth)! - 1 day ago
