My son Jackson has several congenital heart defects (CHD) that he was born with, the major one is that he literally only has half a heart (@JacksonRydersJourney on fb if you're interested) because of this, he has low immunity and daycare at this point in time is not an option. This means I am unable to work so we are a single income family. Eating healthy is still absolutely a priority so we've been getting better and better at doing it on a budget! Another favourite lunch snack of mine is 1/2c brown rice with a scrambled egg & a cup of frozen steamed veges. I'll add left over meat from the night before if there is any or am happy enough without it. Eating healthy doesn't have to equal big $$$ at the supermarket! I've found decent frozen steamed veges is a great compromise and means I can still eat fresh veges with the family at dinner time 👍

Super thankful for the ability to get my body moving today, amazingly happy about the sunshine, stoked to get to work alongside one of the most incredible people I know, @1happy_fit_mum & for every step I’ve been able to make towards my goals today.
Cos that’s what they are...
Steps forward.

Today I NAILED my goal pace for my run.
And I so proud of myself, I’m proud of my effort & consistency & stamina.
& I’m counting it just as AWESOME as the day I nailed my first 1km run.
My first un-modified burpee.
My first full lap of BBG.
.
This time last year I made it my goal to run 15km. And it was painful. It was such a hard run & I shuffled my way through it (stoked) sore & tired.
Today I ran till I felt my pace drop off & it was 14km.
.
Step by step.
My badass steps from 1 year ago have led me here.
& I’m so proud of them.
As happy as I am today to be truly living my best life RN...
I am proud & thankful to be a product of every step that got me here.
The baby steps. The tired shuffled. The 2-back-1-forwards, the leaps of faith... all of them.
They led me here, to this pretty great Tuesday.

Honestly, it could be prolonged runners high 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ but I reckon it’s just a really great day to have a really great day!

This last week, I took a bit of a break due to my youngest being sick, lack of sleep, getting sick myself, some killer cramps and lethargy from that time of the month...anyway, today I felt energized again, and organized the house, and am currently getting my LISS in. I hear a lot about macros and while I know what they are, I have no idea how many of what I should be aiming for. I used a bunch of calculators and come up with basically carbs 40%, protein 30%, and fat 30%. Is this right? Anyone out there counting macros that knows what they’re doing? (Also I destroyed my careful work throughout the day with lemon bars and macaroons 🙄)

Behold, a new milestone: I stepped into the gym ystdy, after monthsss! 3.5 months, maybe?! 😅🤰🏻
Did a 30m walk on the treadmill at 4.5km/h, and monitored my heart rate on my @apple watch (it stayed around 110bpm throughout). Finished w a slowww stretch-down after 😀
I had an awful first trimester so this was huge for me 💪🏻 FELT SO GOOD, and I’m so grateful to not feel ill all day anymore 🙏🏻 Yay to my first treadmill walk with baby 👶🏻

I stopped aiming for a perfect BALANCE awhile ago. As a mom of two, with so many things on my plate: motherhood, being a wife, a 9-5 job, taking care of the house, pursuing hobbies, maintaining friendships, exercising/ eating healthy, and some “me time” factored in somewhere... it was WAY too much to balance. ⚖️ In my mind, finding a balance was attainable when two things took up your time and you found a healthy equilibrium. When I became a mom and I was juggling every single aspect of my life and started wearing so many hats throughout the day, I put too much pressure on myself to find the balance of doing it all. 🤹🏻‍♀️ With time I’ve learned some days I can do it all and some days I can’t ... so I’m embracing this UNBALANCED life. 💕

We started a “salad pool” at work. Basically we all chipped in for ingredients this week and help ourselves to a delicious salad everyday. It’s amazing! My work has a real focus on healthy living and it’s just lucky that I work in a small enough office where these things are easy enough to organise. We also have a step competition this month.

I’m finally back at it! I was off the #pwrprogram and basically any form of working out for the last two weeks due to illness and injury. 👎🏻 While everyone is starting week 10 of the #pwr12wc and #sweat12wc I am back at week 8, so happy to be back at it though! 😊 Loving @kelseywells #pwr sure makes it easy. 
I figured I should start the week off strong with a #LISS and a #pwrbackandshoulders workout today- it felt good to be back in my basement gym lifting and best of all the weather is so nice I got to do an hour of #LISS outside. Bring on Spring!

@nik_fit15 posted a few days ago about not always being motivated but seeing the women she follows on IG helps to keep her focused and stay active and healthy. I totally agree with her statement. 
While not working out for two weeks could have derailed my comittment to myself to be active and workout, continuing to check in with IG and the women I follow for inspiration has really helped keep me on track and come back fully ready to continue my #pwrprogram and complete the full 12 weeks and beyond. I want this to become a lifestyle just as it has for so many of you.

Have I got your attention? 😉 Newsflash mummies, your body will never be the same! There are physical changes in your body you can’t come back from. Postnatal body is different, you’ve gone through a transition process and that pre-baby body doesn’t exist anymore and you can’t get it back. It doesn’t mean that your new body is worse or that you can’t get fitter or stronger than you were before you had a baby, you CAN but you have to do it the right way. You are in a new body and you need to get to know it, you can’t go back to the same training program you did before having a baby. You have to go back to basics and you have to take into account the weak links like your pelvic floor, weak abdominal muscles and abdominal separation. So instead of chasing your pre-baby body, you need to get to know your new body and you need to learn to listen to it. If something doesn’t feel right go and see a doctor as you don’t know if that’s normal after having a baby or there is actually something wrong. And you should be really careful when returning to exercise after having a baby. It is very important that your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles have regained sufficient strength before you recommence sport, aerobics, running or heavy lifting (and it doesn’t matter if you had a baby 6 weeks ago, 6 months ago or 6 years ago). Participating in these or other high-impact activities too early may reduce pelvic floor muscle strength and cause long-term bladder and bowel problems or pelvic organ prolapse. Look after and respect your new body mummies 😉.

Simple Monday dinner using the leftover chicken from yesterday’s Roast Chicken. I tend to buy a large chicken for the Sunday and leave half for leftovers. Made a batch of chicken fried rice which makes 4-6 portions (4 when sharing with hubby). I fried lots of green veg - half an onion, half a leek, 1 courgette, 1 green pepper with sesame oil, garlic, ginger and chilli with soy sauce. Stirred the rice and veg together and added the chopped chicken in.

Repeating week 5 because I missed one resistance and three cardio sessions.  Reminding myself that every little victory needs to be celebrated, starting over is always an option and there is no finish line this time.  Sure, I wish I was down another size by now because I feel like I’ve been working so hard, but it is what it is and I’m going to keep working hard.  I still want to wear my wedding dress on my 16th anniversary in June. -

I try not to snack in the evening, but when I do, this is my choice 🤗. This plate is for my and my 6y old son. He also loves to snack on fresh fruit and veggies! Crispy, fresh, colorfull-it looks and tastes great 👌. I also love to snack on chocolate and ice cream but I try to eat it as occasional snack and then I really enjoy it, totally guilt free 😉

Motivation- we’ve all got it in us but sometimes we lack it bc were human beings. Whenever I look at photos from when I first started working out I always get embarrassed that I was walking around looking like that. I don’t even see myself, I see a sad miserable Jenn that just isn’t happy with her life. The main reason I started to workout was bc I knew  the affect it would have on my mental health. I’m a deep person and I can really get into my own thoughts and drag myself down. That’s what I was doing here on the left. I was binge eating bc in my head I thought, well nobody even knows me out here so who cares 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was digging myself into a dark hole and knew there was only one way I could fix it. I knew if I started working out my mental health would change. I’m also someone who suffers from anxiety. I hate that feeling of being anxious and just sick to my stomach. For me it all comes down to my workouts. I’ve never felt so secure and sure of myself. My anxiety comes and goes but nothing like before. This is where I get my motivation from. .
All but positive things have happened for me since I started #pwr and I’m really proud of myself for sticking it out ☺️👊🏼 .

This is my FIRST TIME EVER sharing before/after pictures. So vulnerable right now! I just can’t believe how SAD and DEFEATED I look in my “befores”. I was a couple months postpartum with baby #2. 
This week, I was feeling down about the progress I thought I hadn’t made over the last year and the ups and downs with eating, working out, my mental health- so just for fun I searched and compared pictures from just over a year ago and this morning. I was so surprised to see the differences and this just proves to me that even with slip ups, as long as you keep redirecting your focus to a better you and a better life YOU WILL BE MAKING PROGRESS! After not exercising for 4 weeks due to the whole family being ill with a sickness bug and then me getting a sinus infection, I started back at it today. To be honest I was a bit nervous as I thought I might have lost a lot of fitness having not done anything for 4 weeks. I didn’t have to modify as much as I thought I would have to 🙌🏽. LOWER ABS WORKOUT✨

This workout is aimed at the lower part of the belly or the “pooch.” Last year when I got sick, my abs disappeared. While my upper abs came back rather quickly, my lower abs have been a challenge. Challenge accepted✌🏽

When you forget to take pictures of what you ate so empty tubs and wrapper are the only reminder 😂😳😂

The only reason I take pictures is for moments like these: I want to snack on high fat/sugary foods but by visually seeing all I’ve eaten reminds me I don’t need to. (And posting publicly would make me a hypocrite if I ate more now, so I won’t - yay!)

This is so inspiring!!!! Did anyone see the full interview?? I switched the tv on this morning and Lorraine was talking to these two amazing women and how they plan to run a 10k around London in their underwear as a huge body positivity campaign. From what I caught at the end, a couple of them have already completed a London marathon in their pants but wanted to make it more accessible to everyone by setting another date for a shorter distance!! .

Now obviously 10k is way past my limits but even if I could run that far, even being as confident in myself as I feel I am now, I’m still not sure how I feel about running, in public, around London, in my bra and knickers 😆 so I absolutely take my hat off to all these amazing, brave, confident, women doing such a great thing in honour of #bodypositivity 💗 .

Celebrated my little Owlette's 3rd birthday on Saturday with a superhero's party. I got a little carried away with this party but it was all worth it to see how happy it made her. .
My fierce week 11 was somewhat disrupted with a neck strain mid week and then organising this party. I only managed the 3 strengths sessions and one LISS! I was feeling so deflated about it. I woke up this morning feeling pretty crappy from the full on weekend and little sleep last couple of nights. But told myself just push through to get legs done for week 12!! Just moving forward and forgetting about week 11 and going to bed very early tonight.
Hope you are smashing your challenge and not long to go now!! So exciting.
