Hello baby bump! Did extremely modified and shortened BBG Week 1 legs. Definitely lost strength over the last 2 months. Trying to find a new nighttime routine vs my old mornings as my body decided we’re no longer morning people. My knees need some working up to and TLC before I can get through a full leg workout. Well, I started the first two days of the #sweat12wc and then this happened! The first official week of the @sweat 12-Week Challenge is complete!!! I rounded out @kelseywells #pwr Week 1 with a 45-min spin class for LISS and followed it up with a Shoulders & Back lift this morning. So how is everyone feeling? Sore? Exhausted? Determined? Successful? Lacking motivation? Wanting to quit? Take a minute to acknowledge how you are feeling mentally and physically. Figure out the positives and negatives from this past week, and set new intentions for the upcoming week. You’ve already completed one week. You are already one step towards a life change. You already got over the fear of having to do a burpee, commandos, being in the gym again, etc. You’ve done it!! AND if you haven’t already, get a workout buddy, create a ‘fitstagram’, join a virtual Sweat group/community, have an accountability partner, find your tribe, etc. Doing something alone is almost always going to be harder than doing something together.

Nothing is more therapeutic when the outside world and family are driving you nuts. More than nuts but insane. 
I’m so sick of being blamed for things that are not in my control. That’s the answer to your question. That’s why I need this. Gym time. My art. My true friends. They are my rock. And I’m so grateful for everyone in my life right now. I love that the people I’ve met in the last 2 months are now my close friends and friends I met a year ago are closer friends as well. I love the support I get from them and everyone else who doesn’t put me down. For that I’m grateful. ❤️

I got off of work this morning (yay night shift) and instead of putting on my cozy pajamas, I put my workout clothes on so I could check off my full body workout and recovery! I am proud of myself for getting through the first week of the #sweat12wc ! Although I’m still sore, I’m feeling pretty good! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend and that you are encouraging yourself (and others)! Time to get some sleep (then LISS)!

Got chores and a workout done early so I can spend my afternoon hanging out on the couch watching football 😂 Today starts Week 3 of #kelseywellspwr #pwr2019 , as well as the official second half of my maternity leave- 8 more weeks until I’m back to work! Breakfast this am was some leftover peppers and onions from last nights dinner sautéed with thin sliced potatoes, topped with a runny egg, and a side of @wholefoods Savory seasoned bacon 🥓🍳

Week one of the #sweat12wc is done! 🔥🔥🔥 And for the first time in my bbg life I completed all my resistance, all my liss, and the challenge!! It was really hard to get back into it, and the doms were real 😩! But I’m feeling so happy with my recommitment to my health, and looking forward to all the benefits it will bring. HOME BOOTY WORKOUT+ BOOTY TIPS🍑

One of my goals this year is to tackle my problem area: butt and thighs. When I gain weight, it goes straight there so it’s hard to tone up. -
Here are a few fun exercises that you can do at home. I like to pair these with barbell squats to add some weight.
-
Try 3 sets of 12 reps per move.
-
GROW A BOOTY:
1. Glute Activation: Activating your glutes before a workout is extremely important.  If you have stubborn glutes like me, you can activate your glutes beforehand either with or without a resistance band.  Standard exercises like glute bridges, hip extensions, and body weight squats can really activate your glutes and get them ready for leg day.

2. Multiple Leg Days: I have 3 leg days a week with all different exercises. One is typically including exercises like squats and deadlifts, but two of the three days include glute isolating exercises like kickbacks, walking lunges, hip thrusts, and alternate leg exercises {where you really focus on each glute}. -
3. Eat, Eat, Eat: This is the fun part.  Shredding will not allow you to build a booty.  Focus on eating healthy carbs around your workout {before and after} and eating plenty of protein, especially post-workout.  If you’re wanting to shred for a certain amount of time, I would still do glute exercises, but you won’t see a huge difference in muscle growth.  In order to build muscle, you must ‘bulk’ for a certain period of time {I typically do it in the winter where layered clothes are a staple}. This allows you to increase your calories and strategically build muscle {especially after leg days}.

4. Power Cardio: Think cardio that activates your glutes.  I love doing the stairmaster, walking on a steep incline {at 3o%}, walking lunges around the track {this really gets your heart rate up}, and step-ups.  Do these all while having that muscle-to-mind connection with your glutes.

5. Weight Progression: Make sure that you’re getting stronger over time.  Don’t become accustomed to the same amount of weight on that barbell.  Add weight as you go — whether it’s 2 lbs, 5 lbs, or 10 lbs.  As you build muscle, the more weight you will need to add!

DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER

I felt like I needed to post this, the other day I was explaining to a friend that I was starting the #sweat12wc . During the conversation she turned around and said "why What for you're not fat you don't need too". I was absolutely shocked! In her opinion I didn't need to workout as she thought I had a good body. But to me I need to workout not just for my physical health as I am overweight but also for my mental health. What she sees of me is a completely different version to what I see. On the left is a picture of me, my outfit made to cover what I believe is one of my imperfections (my stomach) this is what most people see, my friends and my followers on my Instagram.  On the right is another picture of me in a completely raw and personal progress Pic, My friends have NEVER seen that side of me. I think it's only because I have a supportive #bbgcommunity that I can be completely honest about how I feel about myself and my journey to a healthy life. So, on Friday I’ll be purchasing a meal plan/ nutrition cleansing program and I’ll be starting on the Monday coming... it goes for 30 days so hopefully I can keep myself on track for that long. -

It’s weird for me to think this journey just started. 
I’ve only been in Australia for 23/123 days. I have 100 more days here. I’ve only been in classes for a week and yet it feels like I’ve been here a lifetime, yet I just started. 
This country, this island, has blown me away every second of everyday. Between the people, the views, the animals, and so much more. I’m not sure how to act or think. My life has changed drastically in these 23 days. I’ve seen so much, I’ve felt so much, I’m living out my dream. I’m getting to see a glimpse of the girl I’ve dreamed about. Living on island time, soaking up the sun, and falling more and more madly in love with myself everyday. 
Here’s to living these 100 days as though there is no return. Here’s to taking every moment I get, to continue to fall more in love

So today was a light session to get some movement and circulation back into my bod, here’s what I did:

🦗 3 sets for each series
🦗 8-10 reps for all exercises
A1) BB High Bar Back Squats
A2) Lying Leg Curl
B1) Lat Pull Down Supinated Grip
B2) Incline DB Bench Press Pronated Grip
C1) Standing DB Single Arm Press Neutral Grip
C2) DB Walking Lunges (8-10 each leg)
Went lighter with my weights so I could get through the whole workout and meet all the reps, was very puffed after this 😅😅 my strength will come back soon but my hunger has left (unheard of) and I’m only eating two small meals a day atm 😰😭

So today was a light session to get some movement and circulation back into my bod, here’s what I did: ::: 🦗 3 sets for each series 🦗 8-10 reps for all exercises A1) BB High Bar Back Squats A2) Lying Leg Curl B1) Lat Pull Down Supinated Grip B2) Incline DB Bench Press Pronated Grip C1) Standing DB Single Arm Press Neutral Grip C2) DB Walking Lunges (8-10 each leg) Went lighter with my weights so I could get through the whole workout and meet all the reps, was very puffed after this my strength will come back soon but my hunger has left (unheard of) and I’m only eating two small meals a day atm :::: Cc: @sophactivelife - 2 days ago

Swipe to see my baby arm muscle which I'm super proud of 🙆 Today, I got my dreaded period but thankfully pain killers were there to save me from my cramps. I did my final liss session of the week by playing tennis this afternoon. I love it, honestly 🎾 I was going to do full body but due to my period making my whole body ache I'll see how I feel tomorrow morning. I'll definitely give it a go, as to how hard I push myself we shall see... I hope you've all had a wonderful week and are smashing things!

Day Fiiiiiiiiiive✋🏼! What a great first five days I’ve had being back in the  #BBG community and easing myself back into workouts. I took it slow this weeks to see how my body would react to working out post pregnancy and it didn’t disappoint me. I love waking up sore after a good workout, that means it’s working!!! Next week my goal is to incorporate more challenges and #BBG workouts into my #pwrpostpregnancy routine. •
I’ve always been extremely hard on myself and demanded perfection when it comes to my workouts and fitness routine. If I slipped up on one little thing I’d ‘punish’ myself by restricting the foods I ate, doing an hour extra of cardio after a lift, doubling or even tripling my workouts. Why did I do this? Because I was OBSESSED with seeing a small number on a silly scale. It wasn’t until I stopped letting my life be controlled by a number that I found my happiness, I found my strength, and I found my passion in fitness. The number on the scale doesn’t define me anymore and it’s a truly liberating feeling. I’m doing this challenge because I love fitness. I love trying to be better than myself.
