Sometimes just enjoy the dang cookie!
I don’t believe in the word diet, or cutting foods out completely. That kind of thinking will most likely set you up for failure. A diet cannot be sustained for a lifetime. And when you take away your favorite foods it increases how much you think you want it and honestly it’s not fun to take away treats.
What you need is balance...a well rounded nutrition plan that includes all hints and grace to enjoy the treats on occasion.

“What does meal prep look like?” 👀 .
We prefer eating our dinners right off the stove (or oven, or grills!) So traditional meal prep for leftovers doesn’t work for us. We start with some leftovers, and we chop up veggies on Sunday. This cuts prep time down so much! What other tips do you have for meal prepping? 🍽

Sweet Potato Tofu Curry 🍛
———
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 can (13.66oz) coconut milk 🥥
• 7 oz extra firm tofu, cubed
• 1 sweet potato 🍠, cubed
• 1 medium onion, chopped
• 1/2 yellow bell pepper, chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, chopped
• 2 Tbsp red curry powder
• 2 Tbsp soy sauce
• 1 Tbsp flour
• Chopped cilantro 🌱
• Pinch of black pepper
• 2 Tbsp avocado oil 🥑

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Heat skillet, add 1 Tbsp avocado oil, fry cubed tofu.
2. Remove tofu when it turns light golden.
3. Add 1 Tbsp of avocado oil and sauté onion, yellow bell pepper, and garlic.
4. Microwave diced sweet potato for 6 minutes (this cuts down on cooking time!) ⏰
5. Combine sweet potato into skillet with all of the veggies.
6. Add coconut milk, curry powder, black pepper, and flour.
7. Let it cook for ~5minutes, or until sweet potato is soft.
8. Add fried tofu

I also added chickpeas to mine for a little extra protein!

As a nutritionist, one of the biggest issues I see people face is letting go of the all or nothing mentality when it comes to food.

As we know – All diets work in the short term. Motivation is high at the start.

You get yourself all organised, plan meals, turn down any "extras" that come your way. 
Maybe get into some exercise, cook dinner no matter how tired you are,  and you might even turn down social occasions?

Weight loss can happen quickly, and that gives an extra boost of motivation to try keep up this perfect eating regime. 
BUT THEN LIFE HAPPENS 
The meal planning doesn’t happen on a Sunday, and you need to get a take-away meal.

It’s someones birthday and it would be rude not to try some cake (and its your favourite cake!) You have a crap night sleep, or get your periods and eat half a block of chocolate the next day

You get home from a stressful day of work and all you want is cheese crackers and a glass of wine.

And then to your absolute dismay, your weight hits a plateau or increases. "STUFF IT" 
SO many people struggle with this - you are not alone. 
But there are things you can do to help break the cycle

Every Sunday we take the time to plan out our week of meals, make a grocery list and shop for only the items we need. This saves us money, we waste hardly any food and are able to stick to our weekly meal plan easier. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tonight, @wclippinger and I proved that there is yet another way to debunk this myth. We decided to go grocery shopping with a challenge to only buy items on sale while sticking to our nutrition goals because who doesn’t like to step outside of the box a little sometimes? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

With the exception of bananas - because we need them for our shakes 🤷🏼‍♀️ - we succeeded and not only spent $91 for the week for both of us, but also saved $41.32 as well. Proving that you can eat healthy and do it in an affordable way 💁🏼‍♀️. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀

We decided to go grocery shopping with a challenge to only buy items on sale while sticking to our nutrition goals because who doesn’t like to step outside of the box a little sometimes? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With the exception of bananas - because we need them for our shakes 🤷🏼‍♀️ - we succeeded and not only spent $91 for the week for both of us, but also saved $41.32 as well. It’s so nice not feeling pressured to workout 7 days a week. 
The flexibility of our current program is that we workout 4 days a week. Yassss 4 freaking days a week. So, we made the decision to enjoy our Friday night and Saturday. We  moved day 8 to today!

I learned the hard way that the diet industry has the process wrong.  Totally backwards actually.

It’s done a good job demonizing food, using fear-mongering.  The only way to lose the weight you’ve gained is to count every-single-thing you put in your mouth or to eat the same calories as a 7 year old, claiming the only way you’ve gained that weight was out of your control and you just can’t be trusted without a “program”. You go through the “program” only to regain whatever you lost. 
Why is that?

We’ve been disconnected with HOW our bodies think and act about food. So those programs that make you count, track, log everything you put in your mouth will NEVER be successful long term because you haven’t reconnected with HOW your body thinks, acts and honoring it. 
It will always be a hamster wheel of dieting for you. Period.

Reconnect THEN count and track the things. THAT’S where success is made. 
I’m here to teach women how to reconnect those emotions and to show them that long term success IS possible.

Sunday veggie prep and weekly grocery haul done!👊🏻 Didn’t need a lot this week as I may have just slightly went overboard with last weeks deals 🤪 lots of stock to finish up but it’s still fresh!! Half the veggies in my food savers are from last week, can you tell which ones?? This weeks deals: ground chicken on for $3. Okayyyy I’m officially 3.5 weeks out of my second physique competition. I just got done with my second phase of my at home lifting program. The first was building, second was bulking, and my next one starting tomorrow is my cut phase.
Which means starting carb cycling. Which is cutting out carbs (not entirely though, I still get 2 servings a day), less fruit, and much more protein. For me, working out is the easy part. Challenging myself to eat 100% is the hard part. And guys, I LOVE CARBS. I usually eat 2 waffles before my workout and my goodness wish me freaking luck these next 3 weeks 😂
Last year I put NO expectations on myself and made it to top 10, so I really am not looking to stress myself out. However, I am looking to see what this body of mine can do 🤓 
Overall I’ve gained 4 pounds and almost an inch on my biceps. I’ve definitely seen the most growth in my shoulders.
Honestly, I’m most excited for my spray tan. Those things are phenomenal 😍

I dont eat rice all that often but wen i do, i make sure its something i really have lis for. 
My brother had surgery a few days ago and can just eat solids. I made a traditional oven baked chicken with roast potatoes and gem squash and a non-spicy seafood pilau. We packed everything in the car and had lunch with him. 
I love home-cooked meals, being on vacation messes with my eating and cooking mojo 🙈

Spent the day with ma girls. Great bonding time + soaked up some rays.

Started listening to a new book called “Eat Dirt” after the recommendation from a friend. It describes how digestive issues can be linked to all sorts of ailments including cancer and auto immune diseases. It emphasizes how we need more DIRT in our lives to restore our gut health.

Spent the day with ma girls. Great bonding time + soaked up some rays. Started listening to a new book called “Eat Dirt” after the recommendation from a friend. It describes how digestive issues can be linked to all sorts of ailments including cancer and auto immune diseases. It emphasizes how we need more DIRT in our lives to restore our gut health.
