I visited India's first ever hiking hostel!
I have been travelling on a budget for the past six years and have come across amazing hostels and homestays. Most of them have been budget friendly as well. This will be a recommendation post of the hostel I stayed in Jeolikote (18km from Nainital). The Heart Of Travellers hostel @hots_hostels in Nainital, Uttarakhand provides an escape to tourists who wish to stay in nature's lap. Tucked away in a cozy corner at the top, to get to the hostel you need to hike for 680-800 meters, and as they say, the experience is exactly what you’ve seen in The Jungle Book!
The hostel is maintained by young men and the building I stayed in date back to the British era and is about 150 years old. The hostel has private rooms, camps and separate dorms for men and women. The key highlight of the hostel is the creative artworks in and around done by the various travelers.
You can either sit back, relax and read a book or make your own hiking trail to the nearby lagoon. Well for me, I did all of them.
This is the picture of the HOTs cafe where I used to spend most of my time reading books. Watch out my stories for the amazing artwork at HOTs cafe.
