Late & Long post, a lot I want to say. I like to switch off after comps, vids have been posted plenty hahah. Separate thank you post to peeps/sponsors soon.
I started prep in a bad place & considered pulling out. The stress I had was affecting my training, personal life, relationship, work, it built up & I had a huge breakdown to Nim.
I really hate the thought of letting myself and others down when it wasn’t on my terms so I promised to myself that I’d dig myself out, make weight & put on a show. Get to weight a day early, take on a 300kg squat, bench 200+ & deadlift 300+. I mostly kept this to myself for prep.
Started at my worst stress levels & worst physical condition (dexa scan showed me this). Trained my ass off, got back in shape (5.8kg fat loss, 2.7kg muscle gain, 6.3%BF drop in 8 weeks), got power back (even after some 10-12hr physical work days) & cut some stress.
There was no stopping, even with a few sketchy sessions in there. Made it well under the day before as planned.
272.5/287.5/300 – Squats felt heavy but went well, 300 threw me around, figured I’d fail but somehow held onto it and it came up comfy. 20kg comp PB.
192.5/202.5x/202.5 - Huge rookie error not setting up properly for my 2nd therefore missing it. Hit it on my 3rd fairly easy, should have done it properly the first time & tried for an unplanned PB on 3rd but 2.5 under PB is good with a rough bench prep, for weeks Id called no more than 202.5 anyway.
272.5/290/302.5 – Hella bad pec cramps during warm ups, stretched them & activated the hell out of my lats. 1st and 2nd good speed, no cramps. 2.5kg PB on 3rd. My 302.5 better than last year’s 300!
22.5kg total PB, enough to win and to take Patricks 5yr old ProRaw record, feels good to be strong again.
