Today’s food for thought: “NOTHING IS WASTED TIME”
My days are pretty busy, especially at the moment. I’m close to finishing up this semester. I’m taking two 3-credit grad classes, working full-time, and running a business. Now, of course, I don’t give each the same amount of energy, simultaneous, on a consistent basis. Sometimes, work is not as demanding, and other times it is. School and work will soon function as one entity, so that will make life easier. And the side biz...well, it’s the thing that ties the work and school together. It’s the reason why I have the energy to keep pushing. When I know I’m making an impact that’s larger than myself...when I know I’m a role model for somebody’s child...when I know just showing up can make a difference in someone’s life I don’t even know, when I see a child’s face light up, their mental wheels turning, and they get excited about seeing the world differently...this makes the daily grind worth it.
This weekend, I traveled to NY to talk with Long Island’s first All-girls NSBE Jr. Chapter! These young ladies were learning how to code using Python on a Saturday morning! I was very impressed.
I go out of my way for opportunities like this. It gives me life. It gives me energy and pumps me up for the daily grind. For moments like this, I am grateful. - 22 hours ago
