Who knew there was a city within the city of Barcelona?
The structures here were built in the early 1900s to house a hospital, though the location was founded in 1401. Amazingly, it was still an active hospital until 2009!
We toured this UNESCO World Heritage site while waiting for our turn to get into La Sagrada Familia, since it’s just down the road. (Swipe to check out the view through those amazing windows!) The architecture is gorgeous and the history is fascinating. And when we were there, there was a moving art display that explored the end of life. Made the whole purpose of this space come full circle in a powerful way.
