Weight is holding around 250lbs, feeling like I want to puke after each meal so it's hard to understand why I haven't been able to add much weight. Typically anytime I have had an excess of calories I would increase my training time and intensity. This of course would initially seem logical, more food, more work, more growth, right? If you truly examine this thought process you realize it doesnt make much sense, you need a caloric surplus in order to grow, if you burn off the excess calories in training then you arent doing yourself any favors. The goal should be as high intensity as possibly with as low as volume as possible while still stimulating the muscle for growth! Anyway with all that said I'll be switching up to a 3x a week routine instead of 4x. Sessions will be longer but overall volume less while intensity will be kept at a maximum.

Work put me in a funky mood today, the snow also didnt help but regardless once I put my hands on the bar I'm only thinking about one thing, ACHIEVING MY GOALS! 
Second exercise, third set Pendlay rows with 290lbs. These looked way easier than they felt so I know its just a mental game. Probably go for 3 plates next week just because. Always play it by feel day of though.

Transformation pic, left was just 5 days out from my first show, right was taken a few days ago. Sitting close to 200lbs then and waking over 240lbs now. I remember every check in pic I sent I was thinking how bad I looked. Reflecting now again I can honestly say I looked decent ๐Ÿ˜‚ but seriously we are gonna destroy this look next time around.

Hey it's me, just hit a grueling back workout. Excited to progress with the new exercises I've rotated in. Only doing about 13 or 14 total sets and my middle back is exploding. I'm becoming obsessed with just being as freaky as possible from the back. Maybe so freaky people will forget I have a front ๐Ÿ˜‚

A few of my favorite warmup exercises. 
The band pull is great for opening up the thoracic spine and warming up the rear delts and traps. 
Wall slides are another one to help open the thoracic spine and warmup the infraspinatus which helps overall stability of the shoulder joint. Incorporating these types of exercises consistently and for about 6 months is how you will start to yield the true benefits. You cant warmup/stretch well one week and then not the next and still expect your body to make adaptations.

My strongest poses I feel are, back double bi, side chest, and side relaxed. My weakest I believe are front double bicep, back lat spread, and side tricep. The rest I would say are not bad but not great. I think its important for anyone who is critical of themselves to always point out things that are positive first, then address the things that need improvement. Remember that we all have strength and weaknesses! 
Woke up 241lbs, 7lbs lighter than last week but with much less fluctuation in water which I believe is improvement none the less. Time to up the pizza ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I always keep the weights pretty conservative and focus mostly on a smooth stretch and contraction. Worked up to the 130lb dumbbells for the 3rd week in a row after hitting 100s for 10 and 120s for 10. Even though I got 17 reps I probably wont go heavier. I'll just focus on getting some better quality and multiple sets with the same weight.

We're going to push it quite a bit harder but stay within about a 30lb striking range.

Sort of glad the holidays are coming to an end. I think that for many people there is an unnecessary amount of extra stress during this time of the year. Guess I also disagree with the idea that we need a few special days out of the year to focus on our family and ourselves. Every single day should be about family, trying to be the best person you can be, and killing all your goals in general! These are the things that truly matter anyway. 
Thats probably a long enough spiel so how about a post Christmas update?

Thursday! So that means check in time...234lbs this week, down a few from last week but my diet was much cleaner. Also I typically deduct my carbs in half on days I dont train but coach says no more!!! All the carbs ALL the time ๐Ÿ˜Ž the heaviest scale weight I can ever remember was 255-260lbs. I was definitely holding tons of water at that time though. 250lbs with decent condition would be great and I think it's very possible.

Check ins last night 236lbs, up 3lbs from last week.
I feel that the condition is even better this week. I'll have to reward myself for that with pancakes of course. 
Even at this weight I still have so much more filling out to do to actually look 'big'. Not to worry though because I'm all about doing things to the max!!!

Weight is up another 2lbs this week! 
233lbs in the morning. Food is increasing more this week. Currently doing 20 minutes of cardio 5x a week and I feel like it helps me to utilize all the extra calories and keep alot of extra water off. In all the years I've lifted I haven't ever really eaten to gain size properly. Yeah I ate a lot but it was inconsistent and alot of days I would be barely maintaining or in a deficit calorie wise. Interested to see how this all plays out.

BIG shouldn't mean immobile! 
Trying out some adavanced bird dog work for my recovery day today. These didnt look half as terrible as they felt!. Just a few reps on each side but my goal is to work up to 5-10 solid repetitions!

Off-Season check in!
 Weight held at 231 in the morning no food or water as usual. Not surprising because even though I ate a lot of cookies, not a single one counted!  Food is increasing so hopefully my muscles will increase as well ๐Ÿ˜‚ already much leaner at this weight than I've ever been!

Today is Wednesday! Which I think is pretty much international BACK DAY, similar to Monday being international chest day. If not, it should be. And I train chest on Sundays so I feel left out on that one ๐Ÿ˜‚
The back is one muscle group that takes years of proper training to truly develop. Most people never develop a decent back because they are either training too heavy (using their arms to move the weight) or too light (not creating enough stimulus to make such a big muscle group grow) either way theres nothing more impressive when someone hits that back lat spread and looks that they're about to freakin' fly off!!! Its definitely my least favorite pose to hit but I'm determined to make it into one of my best ๐Ÿ˜Ž

This was the night before prejudging at the Battle for the Eagle and I remember literally texting my coach
"Holy SH#T!" Right after sending this. I knew in this moment we were bringing something great. 
Right photo taken about a year ago and I'm just using it to make a true comparison to the progress that was made in that time. Bodyweight was probably 230 here.

Things are escalating quickly ๐Ÿค” 
Trained legs today, my body is acclimating to the amount of volume I'm hitting currently so I'll be increasing that to a maximum before hitting a big deload then ramping up to a medium level of volume with a big increase in weight. 
The process is slow and monotonous, but that's many things in life, most of which are not half as much fun as bodybuilding ๐Ÿ˜Ž 
So I feel like if I'm going to do something repetitive I may as well make it something that is guaranteed to give results. Guaranteed because I am consistent, persistent, and always motivated. 
Also I've been awake since 9:30am yesterday night so this has got to count as a Friday post ๐Ÿ˜‚

Running through the mandatory poses as usual! I've always heard it takes 10,000 repetitions of something to make it into a habit. In other words you've got to do something the same exact way with no deviation in order for it to become 'natural'.
If you make a mistake or deviate,  your counter restarts at 0. Ten thousand times, exactly the same! Better get started!

Super excited to start working with Colton! He's a senior in highschool with a little bit of prior lifting experience. Made a few adjustments to all his lifts today, worked him up to 235lbs for a triple off blocks. Form looking great for his very first session!!! Two things stand out to me about this kid...he listens extremely well, and he shows up to put in WORK! Watch his progress over the next 6 months ๐Ÿ˜€

Feeling SPOOKY! Hope everyone had a fun Halloween! I'm more excited for Thanksgiving which is right around the corner...Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes n gravy...maybe we could combine the two holidays? Imagine knocking on a door and getting a fat plate of Thanksgiving food! That's what I'm talking about!!! Anyway first real post show check ins! Sitting somewhere around 230lbs this morning when I woke up. Took a few days but my body is slowly adjusting to the huge increase in weight. A little watery but still pretty tight! Time to clean up the snacking more and get FREAKY! ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ‘ป

Another TUESDAY another TRANSFORMATION!
Left picture was taken back in July! 
Right picture was during the finals at the Battle for the Eagle! 
Although I weighed in as a light heavyweight under 190lbs I probably came into the finals close to 210lbs! Thats about a 22lb difference from what I thought was 'decently lean' to truly shredded to the bone!

POST WORKOUT SUPPLEMENTATION!!!
I've never been a believer in the metabolic window as it's been proven that after heavy resistance training the body continues to burn calories for several hours! What I do believe in is that you need to eat big to get big and so the extra calories are crucial! Haven't used protein powder in about 3 months but coach added in the option for this off season! Immediately post workout I will do 2 tbsp of TANG with 4 heaping tbsp of Rice protein by @purebulk! This protein is derived directly from a food source and has an amazing amino profile with no other additives, it wont bloat you like your typical whey protein! Comes to about 36g carbs and 30g protein. With my post workout meal I'll have 5g creatine and 500mg agmatine! This helps you keep that 'pump' feeling longer and also aids in nutrient delivery! Remember that these things only help if your diet and training are 100% on point!

Time DOES fly when you're having fun! Probably why the last week of prep felt like the longest 7 days of my life. Literally counting each minute, each SECOND. Here we are EXACLTY one week post show and It feels like the blink of an eye! Probably been snacking a little too much between meals but I'm bringing that under control very quickly. Regardless I stayed pretty tight! If only my arms could have been this full at the show ๐Ÿ˜‚ Ah well currently slamming some yams and chicken breast...time to get freaky!

A few great shots of me being announced and presented the OVERALL trophy for the open mens bodybuilding and novice mens bodybuilding! I came in under 190lbs as a LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT! 3 weeks of NOTHING but tilapia and vegetables leading up to this. Even though I was suffering I never stopped believing in my coach @collin_moeller1 @moellerlbc! He PROMISED to fill me out on stage and from that moment I knew I just had to do whatever it took to get to that moment! The first bite of carbs was heavenly after weigh ins the night before ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Remember that at no point ESPECIALLY 4 weeks out should you feel 'good' during prep. Thats one lesson my coach taught me and many more to go along with it! I'm excited to keep working with him into the off season and into my next show which will be a secret ๐Ÿ˜‰ I'll be posting some overall comparisons on my story later so watch for those!

Well things went about as good as possible! Took the overall mens novice and OPEN mens overall bodybuilding! As well as first in my class as a light heavyweight! Weighed in around 190lbs which is a good lesson to never trust the bodyweight scale you're using fully as we over pulled by about 6-7lbs. Ultimately it didnt make a difference as I came in peeled thanks to my awesome coach @collin_moeller1! Pictured also is 2 tubs of @bleutaylorifbbpro preworkout ALPHA! Cant wait to try this stuff! Now for a nice long off season in order to add about 20lbs of QUALITY MASS. Believe me when I say that next time I step on stage I will RE INVENT myself once again!!!
