We’ve all had those times where we *felt like* we just COULDN’T do the thing (have that tough conversation/ get out of bed to go to work/ eat the food/ cope with the feeling/ fill in the blank). Basically that’s why  people are always saying “I literally can’t even” 😂 But actually, we like literally CAN even. ⠀

💥Feelings are not facts. Our minds give us absolutes (I HAVE TO, I CAN’T, etc.) but the absolutes are often false. When you frame things more accurately (see above) you change your relationship with your feelings. Your feelings don’t get to tell you what you truly can or cannot do. ⠀

Obviously this doesn’t apply to things you truly, physically are incapable of. Take this post with a grain of salt, but remember that most of what we tell ourselves we “can’t” do is really just stuff that feels challenging, scary, or otherwise uncomfortable.⠀

The more we say it to ourselves this way, the more psychological flexibility we create. Meaning, the better equipped we are to handle life’s ups and downs 🙂🙃⠀

So I tried the mammalian drive reflex and recorded my drop in heart-rate. I was feeling some pre exam anxiety. It’s suppose to help. My heart rate is usually 55-67 bpm at resting or sometimes 50 while sleeping.... It dropped to 44 bpm. I immersed myself in ice cold ❄️ water for proximately 5 minutes. I expected it to go lower oh well. nobody‘s worth it! 
i wanted to speak about that, cause it‘s a really important thing. there are MORE deaths of suicide than of traffic accidents! about every 4 minutes someone on this world leaves it. she/he leaves family, friends, who perhaps didn‘t even know about it. a human who suffered of depression, anxiety, got bullied or lots more. if you‘re going through all of this- please talk to someone. to a family member. to a teacher. to a friend. i just want y‘all to know I‘M HERE TO TALK TO. i went through this too last year, and perhaps i can relate. [i‘m fine now]

All the feelings that are racing through you can feel so real and so convincing... But it doesn’t mean theyre true.

You still have a choice on what to act on despite what you’re feeling because they aren’t necessarily true, it is just OCD (the master at convincing) doing its work.

💕 D A N C E R S need rest 💕 and so do their psychologists! I often help dancers to rejig their timetables to factor in active rest (my fave workshops are 100% those where I teach about the psychological benefits of P R O P E R relaxation). So after the most hectic end to the teaching year it was my turn to chill. I had the most glorious weekend hiding away @dimpsey_glamping to celebrate my lovely boyfriend's birthday. Disconnected from the internet and laid in this outdoor hot tub for two hours - that's what I call effective relaxation! .

While I've been an impatient I've been working with some of the staff on sensory and grounding work. It's meant to help focus your mind on the here and now, which can help if you experience anxiety, dissociation, intense emotions and a lot more. A sensory box is a place with objects that are associated with the five senses, each box is different depending on what the individual wants to put in it. 
If making a sensory box is something you're interested in first work out what sense's you like and what you don't. For example I don't like many sounds or textures, instead I prefer scents and taste. However even though it's important to use things you like it's also important to try and find things for all the senses. Then work out what you find calming and what you find awakening and fill the box with what you feel like you need and what will be most helpful for you when you need it. Some of the things in my box I can't have right now because I'm in hospital but  it will do for right now. Then when you start to feel anxious, dissociated, etc you can do the 54321 exercise. You don't need a sensory box for this exercise but it can help. 
What 5 things can you see?
What 4 things can you feel?
What 3 things can you hear?
What 2 things can you taste?
What 1 thing can you smell? 
When you're doing it think about how each sense makes you feel. Is what you're touching cold or warm? Does the smell remind you of anything.

So this was me last night after going out to dinner and having 1 piece of bread, a salad, pasta and a half a meatball. 
I felt so awful a few hours after eating and barely made it to the bathroom 🙈

I’m really thinking I have a gluten intolerance.... I’m doing low carb and eat mostly veggies/fruit/protein! 
Just curious if anyone else has this issue? Or thinks I’m on the right track with gluten!

Picked this 1,000MG CBD Isolate from @sequoia_organics. Just got it in the mail Friday. I did receive the product at a discount in exchange for an honest review, so here comes the review:
The isolate comes in a glass container, completely sealed. The container has a nice weight to it. Upon opening the container you see the isolate which was a grainy, white powder. Didn't have a strange odor or color. I was advised to try 15MG for my first dose to see its effects. After about an hour it did finally kick in. The effects were mild. So I will try a higher dose next time. It does say it's supposed to dissolve in your drink, but it really didn't. 😅😅 I used Coke Zero and it just kinda clumped up, even after stirring. It was fine because it was flavorless and almost textureless. So that didn't ruin the product for me. Overall I think this product will work for me. I've tried CBD oil from a different company in the past and I had an awful allergic reaction to what they cut the product with. This isolate is pure CBD not cut with other things like coconut oil etc.

I had someone ask me the other day how I found the motivation to stay consistent on my wellness journey. 
And it really made me reflect about the message I am sending to those women who watch me. So I want to set a few things straight. 
Listen..... I am not special. 
And the routine you see me living now- it's still new. I'm only a little over a month in. It's still a work in progress.

I want you to know I had started and stopped a million times before. Until I finally figured out that it wasn’t a motivation problem. It wasn’t a time problem. It wasn’t a problem from a lack of tools or knowledge. 
It was a MINDSET problem!

It was that inner voice that told me that a skipped workout meant I should give up. 
It was my mind that told myself that if I messed up my eating for one day, I should just stop trying.

It was my mind that told me each small step didn’t matter. If I didn't see fast results, to give up!

It was my mind that told me I was wasting my time when the number on the scale didn’t say what I wanted it to say. 
It was always my own inner mean girl- putting lies in my head and silencing the truth.

The truth was I was looking for all the answers in the wrong places. I was looking for quick fixes, easy ways, and not wanting to do the WORK.

It took a WHOLE lot of Mindset growth, and personal development to find the path to taking care of my body and making my own wellbeing a priority.

When you make your journey about becoming the best YOU and less about a physical goal number or size—-it will all click.

Your journey, your battles, your scars, you good days and the bad days. They are welcome here.

We are cheering for YOU.

Most of the things worth having in life require us to be vulnerable. Sure, we might get hurt, but I’d argue that it hurts us more to hold ourselves back from truly living life.⠀

Anxieties! The invisible stressor that hides within many forms and shows itself in multiple ways. In a lot of cases our coping mechanisms can be quite self destructive and self mutilating. Skin picking, nail biting, lip biting, biting the insides of the cheek or even the tongue just to name a few examples of subconscious self mutilating behaviour to help us cope through a moment that brings us anxiety. Observing our own behaviours and thoughts during these moments is key in tackling the reaction itself. Self observation is only one if many factors along the path of self evolution.

Social media and technology are partly to blame. The economy and resulting widespread financial pressure are partly to blame. Talking about it helps. Confronting your fears and feeling your emotions helps. Asking for help, helps. Discovering that many people around you can relate helps. Modifications in diet, exercise, and mindset help. Just because I choose to talk about my mental health, most people believe that I am incapable of handling my emotions. I may be a mess, but I am my mess. My anxiety doesn't make me weak. I am no less than a fully functional person. 
Yes, I am getting help for my anxiety. 
Yes, I am taking medication for how I feel. 
But no, I am not weak.

WE FINALLY CANTERED!!! Ok granted we’d cantered a few times before but either my chunk had been very hard to keep in the canter or I was bouncing all over the place. But today something just clicked between us, one little tap, I deepened my seat and we were off! No bouncing on my part and no laziness on my boys part! It was probably a one off but at least it’s made that part of me that was questioning my ability shut up!

The subconscious thoughts keep nicotine addiction in place. The subconscious triggers the urge for a cigarette after dinner, or when you get behind the wheel. It’s the subconscious mind that triggers you’ve poured a glass of wine.

This mental battle also explains why most smoking cessation aids like nicotine replacement therapy are mostly ineffective because it only eliminates the physical cravings – but those mental urges, those subconscious thoughts that tell us to reach for a cigarette, they’re still very much in place.

How do you actively prioritise yourself? And when do you do it?

You are in control of YOU. If you have no time to eat lunch, make it. If you have no energy but go to a family event as you feel you 'ought to' then reevaluate
This is YOUR LIFE. If you run yourself into the ground, don't repair when you need it and complain youre exhausted, then change things & not give 100% to others
. 
Its hard when you care/are empathic but when you  lie down as you're exhausted, can't go to work, can't do what you enjoy because you gave your spoons to someone else, then STOP!! We have a hard enough time keeping them for ourselves. Often others you have given for are walking around fine. It's YOU thats left empty and full of resentment

Anxiety can often be connected to a belief that something bad will likely happen, even though no evidence is present.  With a high risk assessment, anxiety flourishes.  A vicious circle of irrational thought and strong emotion, regardless of whether anything if realistically likely to happen.

To reduce anxiety, question if your thoughts are OVERESTIMATING the true risk.  Explore if you are #catastrophising or attaching your feelings to the worse case scenario.  If this is an ongoing and distressing problem, it may be empowering and helpful to speak to a Psychologist.

MOOD SPIRALS

This illuminated spiral entrance/exit to the Ruakuri Cave Entrance in Waitomo NZ is a wonderful travel memory. Our cave guide had an amazing voice and she sang traditional Maori songs - the acoustics were beautiful.  The stairs lead to glow worm caves which we loved.

Obsessions are defined by recurrent and persistent thoughts, urges, or impulses that are experienced, at some time during the disturbance, as intrusive and unwanted, and that in most individuals cause marked anxiety or distress. The individual attempts to ignore or suppress such thoughts, urges, or images, or to neutralize them with some other thought or action (i.e., by performing a compulsion). Compulsions are defined by repetitive behaviours (e.g., hand washing, ordering, checking) or mental acts (e.g., praying, counting, repeating words silently) that the individual feels driven to perform in response to an obsession or according to rules that must be applied rigidly.

The behaviours or mental acts are aimed at preventing or reducing anxiety or distress, or preventing some dreaded event or situation; however, these behaviours or mental acts are not connected in a realistic way with what they are designed to neutralise or prevent, or are clearly excessive.
