Yesterday I cleaned my closet.
It is as large as life: piles of worn-out fabrics, T-shirts I wore on my favourite trip a few years ago, a moth-holed sweater that I once loved, a now colourless shirt that I wore at my last interview (and got the job ) or the black dress I wore at my grandmother's funeral. Things I don't wear anymore but continue to keep.
And there's life with hurt feelings, betrayed relationships, fear of failure, lost friends, sleepless nights, compromise, worry, insecurity and silent pain. A pile of them in the same kind of closet; skeletons creeping in at times, unwanted.
Who would have thought that the simple act of cleaning the closet will help me sort out some feelings as well?
So here is my last thought for these few remaining hours of 2017: make room for the things that count and are of real use to you.
And, by all means, clean your closet once in a while.
