ECAM : Electronic Centralised Aircraft Monitoring .
ECAM is an indicating system that helps the pilots to understand / monitor the parameters / status of the aircraft. ECAM comprises of two units :
1.Engine/ Warning Display : This unit provides information about the engine parameters : EPR, N1, N2, Fuel Flow , EGT, flap position . It also provides any memo, warnings, failures, secondary failures .
As soon as the Flight Warning Computer, detects a failure, and of there is no flight phase inhibition, the E/WD displays the title of the failure and action to be taken.
2. System Display : the lower ECAM display unit provides information of different systems and also status . It has 12 system pages namely - Engine - Bleed - Cab Press - Elec -Fuel - APU - Cond( air con) - Door/Oxy - wheel - flight controls - cruise.
The pilot can manually call up a system page by ordering the relevant system page key, or the system may automatically display a page. As soon as the Flight Warning Computer detects a failure or malfunction, the relevant page opens on the bottom ECAM ( SD) . The page also opens if a parameters drifts out of its normal limit. The value pulses as long as it is outside its limit .
