What is your relationship like with your body?
Mine was overwhelmingly negative for most of my life.
To this day, even though I spend a lot of my time working on accepting and enjoying my body for what it is, I still have times where I view my body very negatively.
Instead of seeing our bodies as mobile vessels for our souls, we see our bodies as something we are disconnected with and fail to understand.
We get angry with them, and in response, try to manipulate and control them through a hateful + shameful lens.
We place so much of our worth on our bodies, thinking it makes us more lovable + valuable if they fit into society’s ideals.
Through this, we become further disconnected with our bodies, and in turn, ourselves.
Unfortunately, it’s a radical thing to love + accept your body today.
We get the terms “cocky” and “confident” severely mixed up, and then forget just merely “acceptance” is even an option.
Acceptance doesn’t mean you necessarily love how your body looks, but it means you respect + cherish it for what it does.
Acceptance is disconnecting your worth from your appearance.
Acceptance is freeing yourself from expectations, and just being.
I am working towards acceptance.
Today, I encourage you to work towards acceptance, too. - 17 minutes ago
