Brake Fan Operation
️ When the turnaround time is short or if the temperature of any brake is likely to exceed 500c 🥵, use the Brake Fans without delay.
️In other cases the flight crew should delay Brake Fans selection to 5’ after landing, or approaching the gate, whichever occurs first.
Carbon Brake Wear
Carbon Brake wear depends on the number of brake applications and on the brake temp.
The only way the pilot can minimize brake wear is to reduce the number of brake applications.
The PF should allow the aircraft to accelerate to 30kt, and should then use one smooth brake application to decelerate to 10kt.
The PF should avoid continuous brake applications.
