I just finished reading "The Push" by legendary climber Tommy Caldwell. Hands-down, the best book I've read this decade. Wildly connective, terrifying, heart-wrenching, jealousy-inducing, inspirational, infuriating, instructional, soul-galvanizing.
Broadly, it’s an example of a life well-lived. An example of how to follow your purpose, your calling, and create your art, despite the tragedies, heartbreaks, mistakes, and shitstorms that inevitably get in our ways.
For climbers, it’s a deep-dive into the sport’s culture, it’s intracacies, the personalities of many of our heroes, and has endless gems of technical instruction and stoke.
Highly recommended. Swipe to see some of my favorite passages.
@tommycaldwell , if you happen to see this, thank you for EVERYTHING behind The Push. Since we briefly met many years ago, your story has pushed me to higher altitudes. Thank you. - 1 hour ago
