Just been to the Drs about my blood results. My vitamin D levels are low, I asked what was happening about my colonoscopy results as the found ulcers and then showed her the pictures of my tongue I explained I'm biting at night, I asked for cultures to be done because I'm in so much pain. She said my vitamin D levels are 39 and should be 75 but we don't need to do anything, she said she doesn't know what to do about my colonoscopy results, she said she wasn't sure about the biting and said no need for cultures it's all IC related and that's unfortunately the symptoms.... From late March to the end of September, most people in the UK should be able to get all the vitamin D they need from sunlight - as long as they get outdoors. During the autumn and winter, the sun isn’t generally strong enough for the body to make it. 
Common signs associated with low levels of vitaminD include: ❤️ high blood pressure

🤬 bad mood
💤 fatigue
💪🏽 muscle weakness
⚡️ increased pain sensitivity
😓 sweating more on the head

My vitamin D test results are in! I am really happy to see that my vitamin levels are adequate although I thought that they may not be. But I think some sun exposure in summer definitely helped and so did the occasional supplementation. I did this test through @betteryou_ltd  who work together with NHS to offer this service and I highly recommend you use them if you are worried about your vitamin D levels. Once you get your test results, you also get a code to order a free vitamin D spray which I think it's really cool. I will continue to supplement throughout the colder months to ensure my levels don't fall too much. And one more thing... Vitamin D - How much should I Get?  It’s a difficult question to answer and varies from person to person.  This variability depends on your age, use of sunscreen, your pigmentation, ethnicity, and genetics. 
Vitamin D is an important to help aid with absorption of calcium and bone growth.  Adequate vitamin D is also linked to reduce the risk of diabetes, reduce cancer progression, and promote a healthier pregnancy.  Vitamin D deficiency can present as many symptoms such as fatigue, frequent illnesses, painful joints, depressed mood, hair loss, and impaired wound healing. 
Below 20 nanograms is considered Vitamin D deficient
Less than 30 – inadequate
30-80 – adequate

The “sweet spot” we think is between 40-80 nanograms. It takes about a thousand international units of vitamin D3 to bring your levels up by 6 nanograms over 2-3 months. 
If you are considering supplementation, also remember to look at the ingredients on the back of the bottle.  A lot of Vitamin D3 is coated with industrial oils such as canola or soybean, which are very prone to oxidation thus inhibiting absorption  You need presence of good fats to increase absorption of Vitamin D We recommend that your Vitamin D3 pill is made with olive oil, MCT oil, or coconut oil as that increases absorption by 30%. Most vitamins should be taken in the morning but Vitamin D is a hormone and is best absorbed at night so that is our recommendation.

06.10.18.  I'm going to say something about #suicideawareness and #suicide.

As a person who has attempted suicide I **DO** "have the right" to speak DIRECTLY on this subject.

I am NOT ashamed to tell my story, but it won't be all told here. I tried for a solid 5 months to kill myself, before my family finally got involved. Did they know how to help? Probably not! Nobody does. Did they IGNORE a problem that could have helped me? Yes! Did they reach out to me during these 5 months? Not exactly... My sister cut off contact, stating it was "too stressful" for her (while truly a stressful time, the isn't something that helped; that night I tried again because clearly my own sister didn't love me enough to call and say I love you once a day), while my parents stayed states away. Every time I got out my friends were who I relied on.

Do they now, when I am having sad days, when I'm feeling a little bit off, call or do anything? No. When I text and say I just need a friend? No.

But you're still sitting there posting your #suicidehotline number instead of CALLING A PERSON YOU KNOW IN YOUR LIFE. You read an article on #anthonybourdain or #katespade, and then you continue on with your life.

If you never have personally experienced this situation before, ask some who HAS. Ask them what it is actually like. Listen to it all. Have sympathy. Learn empathy. Be kind.

That's all I'm posting today.

Obese people with excess fat around their waist are at risk of vitamin D deficiency, new research suggests. There is a strong relationship between increasing amounts of abdominal fat and lower levels of vitamin D, which could mean that that people with larger waist line should consider having their vitamin D levels checked, suggest researchers.

There have been recent studies showing that low vitamin D levels May be an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, and for a condition like PCOS that already had an increased risk of insulin resistance and diabetes, my ears pricked right up to hear what could be learnt and how we can further empower our decisions to better our health. 
The study out of California found a correlation between levels of Vitamin D greater than 30ng/mL and a reduced risk in later developing diabetes. Plus, every 10ng increase over 30ng was associated with a 36% reduction in diabetes risk. 
Whilst the study findings made it difficult to demonstrate causality, it did indicate a strong association between Vit D levels and diabetes risk. 
So what does that mean for us? Maintaining adequate levels of Vit D (roughly 32ng/mL or more) could help reduce the risk of developing T2DM.  Sources of Vitamin D include sunlight, COD liver oil, sardines, salmon & tuna! 🐟
But remember, diabetes is a multifactorial disease so prevention from just one angle isn’t the answer.  What we can take away is that providing optimal levels of nutrients for our body helps it to work at its optimal level, and can help it stave off illnesses and disease states. .

Does anyone take a vitamin D supplement? ☀️

My vitamin D results came back quickly from the NHS 👍🏽 Although my levels are considered "adequate" (85) they are not optimal (100) for protection against certain diseases. •
Considering I already take a daily vit D supplement, it has got me thinking, "what would my levels have been if I wasn't taking that supplement?" 😳 •
So I'm going to double up on my current dose and recheck my levels in a few months time. Will keep you posted 😊 •

Low vitamin D levels can put you at increased risk for breast and prostate cancer. Even though the NHS state above 50 is "adequate", I understand your levels need to be at least 100 to help reduce that risk more securely.

Last night I learnt A LOT about women's health and how to practise disease prevention, in particular ovarian and breast cancer. One of the things that was explained was how low levels of vitamin D are linked to an increased risk of cancer in the breast. I take a daily Vitamin D & K2 oral spray supplement, however it's prompted me to get my vitamin D level checked to be sure it's within the normal range. Sunshine is good for my soul. I found out about 18 mo ago that I was severely lacking in Vitamin D, among other things, and so I try very hard to get outside and soak in the sun. I do well in the summer, due to our #summerofthepool but winters are hard. Being in #cancun for 5 days helped top off my #VitaminDlevels and it was amazing the difference I felt. #ineedabeachinmylife #yesITakeAVitaminDSupplement #itsnotthesameassunonyourface

Ok my UK lovely...we are into the months where we're not getting the proper rays to produce Vitamin D from the sun anymore. So be sure eat more mushrooms/fish liver oils/eggs yolks, take your supplements and or my favourite... go to some place sunny where YOU CAN still get proper sun rays to make Vitamin D. Reminder...Vitamin D is important for healthy bones and teeth. As well as warding of depression and multiple diseases and the flu. ☀️ 🌞 .
