“I started my Journey in August of 2017 at 335lbs. I was 20 years old, morbidly obese, and after many failed ‘Fad Diet’ attempts I was contemplating Weight Loss Surgery. I made what I like to call thousands of GREAT excuses as to why I couldn’t lose weight and why I couldn’t be healthy. My life at 335lbs (as much as I liked to lie to myself and others) however, was not as great as my excuses. I struggled to walk, couldn’t wear the clothes I wanted, didn’t get to participate in activities with my friends that were as simple as going to the State Fair.
The worst part about being obese wasn’t just what I was missing out on physically, but also what I was missing out on emotionally. I secluded myself from the world despite my constant preaching of “Body Positivity”. I shunned any new friendships, relationships, dating, you name it. The hardest realization in this journey was realizing that my weight was an outward cry for help, a weakness, a lack of control that EVERYONE could see but only I could fix. Overeating was a crutch to get over my adversities in life.
