As a woman–a fat, sick, scarred, hairy woman, no less–I receive the message daily from society that I should take up less space. That I should be slimmer, prettier, quieter, less demanding, more accommodating. .
I decide every day that I will not. That I will take the space that I need to breathe, and grow, and serve the light however I am meant to. My body is the vessel for all the life and energy that I carry, and I goose every day to believe that it is worthy of what it asks of me. .
It's a cruel world out there for femmes, and especially us with bodies that break out of magazine cover beauty ideals. Be tender with your imperfect body today, Lovelies. It carries you, houses you, and nourishes you. Whether you sleep or wake, regardless of if you pay attention to it or not, it will pump your heart and lungs, delivering blood and oxygen to all of your cells, regulate your body temperature, translate the chaotic world of stimuli around you into sight, sound, taste scent and touch, all to the best of its ability (limited, though those abilities might sometimes be). This is, perhaps, the most unconditional form of love we can ever receive. .
So take a moment to sit in your body, whatever it's state, and honor and celebrate this strange and sacred space where your spirit lives. .
Gods all bless, sweet ones .
