As women we USUALLY tend to put everyone’s needs ahead of our own. I say women and not moms, because I did this before kids too.
A trip to Target, 15 runs to Home Depot or those 7 Amazon orders we don’t even bat an eye to when it’s adding up to a crazy amount of money, because it’s serving other people typically. Example; I’ll spend $10 on the kids’ 87th package of underwear, meanwhile I still rotate through my maternity pairs.
Getting a pedicure or massage or my hair done gave me that “ahhhhhh yes, I feel new again” feeling that I’d get when I’d do something just myself. Those things only come around a few times a YEAR though.
Yesterday was a rough day, start to finish. While I sat outside the kids’ rooms listening to them throw EPIC fits at bedtime I started thinking about what I was going to do right now for me that’ll make me feel better. It was an easy decision, wash my face and put a mask on.
I kid you not, washing my face and masking is like a mini trip to the spa. It’s for ME, no one else. It’s MY time. It makes my skin feel good which radiates inward to help make me feel less defeated by the day.
I just want this to be a reminder that you’re worth being taken care of too. You deserve something for you to look forward to at the end of the day! - 24 minutes ago
