Dear Cyrus John,
Today has been a good day because it is Friday!
Earlier, your "crush" did a gun hand gesture, poked you in the back and said, "Give me your breakfast or I'll shoot you." You could have said, "Oh dear, I can starve to death. Give me your heart and I can live forever." Instead, you said, "Hey there, how are you?" You're expecting a short answer and an end of conversation.
Unexpectedly, that talk lasted for a few minutes, and as an introvert, that's very long. But wasn't that a cute moment in the first place?! It's not everyday you experience "kilig" moments, so be grateful like Catriona.
28 February 2017. Hallstatt, Austria.
It's been in your travel bucket list since you saw Yen Baet's winning photo. The place was very small though, so you're done with your itinerary before lunch, except for one thing - sunset.
That's your longest wait for a sunset, but you're used to waiting for hours anyway. You checked your office emails (and got a reply, "Aren't you supposed to be on holiday?"). You stayed at a cafe and randomly searched for a song playing over the radio, which you realised after, was Alessia Cara's "Scars To Your Beautiful". You went out and had a walk while eating two hotdog sandwiches. Then you set up your tripod to reserve this spot.
As a solo traveller, one side of you was always daydreaming. What if you have someone to talk to while waiting for dusk? You could talk about your favorite music or movies. You could reminisce your past relationships and your future together. You could discuss the last book you read or the last time you cried. Or you could simply share that two hotdog sandwiches.
This photo was special to you because it reminds you of how you've become so patient about waiting for that perfect timing. As that sense of peace started to show right before your eyes, that blue hour reminds you of how you've found bliss in solitude. Yet, as warm lights started to illuminate the fairy tale-like scene, it reminds you of how romantic it would have been if you're witnessing that moment with a loved one.
They say you can't have it all. Are you still willing to wait? Or are you now ready to talk?
