I have a secret.
The secret is that running a successful photography business is not (really) about photography.
Now, don’t get me wrong. To be successful, having amazing photography skills is a huge plus. It’s much easier to be successful if you are able to reliably produce quality work for your clients.
But at least 3/4 of your success will not be based on your artistry, dang it.
It’s based on business skills.
Most new photographers don’t know this. They get into the profession because they love to create, and then over 70% fail because they think posting pictures on Facebook and Instagram will make a magical tide of clients flood their inboxes. (It won’t. )
Or they quickly realize that charging $150 for a session is not sustainable, and they would literally be making more dolla bills slinging espresso at Starbucks (while being eligible for benefits… hello, health insurance) !
I have been running a full time photography business for almost seven years now and have shot many thousands of sessions (I average over 400 a year). Wherever you are in your journey, chances are good I have been there.
I want to know how I can help! What are you struggling most with? What resources can I provide for you that would really move the needle in your business? Drop me a comment below, I am all ears! - 7 days ago
