Report from @the.holistic.psychologist
We think that memories and emotions are stored in the brain, and this is true.
Every emotion we have is also felt by the body, in the form of energy.
Every emotional experience travels to our body. If we don’t process and release the emotional energy, it’s stored in the body.
The stored emotion affects the nervous system and the immune system. Just as environmental factors contribute to inflammation, so do our own unprocessed emotions.
Today we have a health crisis of ‘invisible disorders.’ Chronic illnesses that leave most western doctors at a loss. And patients who feel ‘crazy’ because they have symptoms that are misunderstood. Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda and other eastern modalities have always understood the role of emotions in wellness.
Anger, resentment, grief, and other emotions can be the root cause of many disorders. We can (and should) address nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle, but until we resolve the emotional (mindbody) component, we can’t heal.
Healing the emotional body is about feeling then releasing emotions. In Greek, the word emotion translates to: energy in motion.
How to release trapped emotions:
1. Sit for 3 minutes with eyes closed in silence tuning into body and breath. This builds the foundation of intuition, and will allow you to connect with physical sensations that thoughts bring.
2. Journaling: journaling helps to release thoughts and emotions around experiences. It will help you identify your underlying emotions and process them.
3. EFT: emotional freedom technique. Also known as tapping. Tapping breaks up and releases emotional energy. I just released a ‘how to’ YouTube video you can watch in my stories #selfhealers
