What is the first thing you did when you opened your eyes this morning? How about yesterday morning? Or the morning before? What will be the first thing you do when you open your eyes tomorrow?
Chances are that you’ve probably done the same thing - on autopilot- every morning for past many mornings and you’ll keep on doing for the forseeable future mornings. Correct?
You could do this exercise for pretty much most of your daily activities (what lace on your shoe do you tie first, which hand do you use to brush your teeth, what’s the route you take to work, where do you like to sit in the house, whats your comfort food etc etc). This is because your lifestyle is made up of a mass of learned habits.
When we veer off habit, we feel weird. That’s why when someone says cut down alcohol, eat less of X, walk more, cut down tech-time, save don’t spend...- individually these habits may not seem impactful but overtime these habits go on to create a weakness in our mind-body connection and start initiating disease.
Our daily habits are critical to evaluate because when you create a new habit, your habit soon starts to create a new you.
