Lost in russian fairytales
Why Ivan the Fool is a Superhero in Russia?
This is a back porch of that famous cathedral in Moscow with many colorful domes. St. Basil the Fool for the sake of Christ is a patron saint of it. Isn't a strange name? This man lived in the 15th c. He was absolutely mentally healthy, but he wanted to make his soul purer and achieve real love for God and humankind. So he behaved like retarded, he was homeless, he almost didn't have clothes, he slept on the cathedral porch even in winter, he ignored fake social norms and was not scared to say truth to other people, even to the rulers and, of course, many of them didn't understand it, bullied and even beaten him, but he kept praying for them and growing bright love to everybody in his heart. Only after his death, he became very venerated, people finally understood what a brilliant he was. Maybe you have seen the movie "Forrest Gump", this guy behave quite similar to the main hero of russian fairytales Ivan the Fool. Ivan is a simple village guy, who is kind, helpful and listens to his big loving heart more than to his mind. He will face many obstacles on his way, but his qualities will help him to fight villiains, make friends and win princess's heart. What qualities are appreciated in your country?
