The eight pillars of Kenpo proper are, the five pinan, and three Naihanchi. By Kenpo "proper" I mean in it's most basic simplicity. I would submit this as an accurate (cursery) description of Kenpo.
Using Gedan Barai as an example of a hara driven movement. The chamber, rotate step out, with left foot, left gedan barai(sweeping low). Gedan Barai with a temporarily displaced center, drop right foot back to enter left zenkutsu dachi. In the "falling" back of right foot "center" momentarily is displaced. Point of contact being the re uniting of center .
Once again I submit as an accurate description of Kenpo. In Bunkai ( discussion and interpretation) , the waza derived from said "eight pillars" become very clear when looked at in this "simple" manner . By simple I imply archetypal . (core basics, which of course being basic , encompass the full art. #kenpo #kempo #karate #kungfu #kravmaga #martialarts #fma #taekwondo #odin #viking #beserk - 1 hour ago
